Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 14 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We presented our first-ever "Live in the Homegrown Studio" Special this week! We have been blessed with having many musical guests on the program over its 24 years on the air, and many of those guests have performed live during their guest appearances! We spotlighted many of those performances, with some going as far back as 2000, and happening in various studios - including the old Q94 "House That Rock Built" on 40th Street and 5th Avenue in Altoona, and even an outdoor "studio" under a tent with Van Wagner during the Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival. And we capped the program with one of its most memorable performance moments, as a gathered group of acoustic musicians wildly jammed on an 8-minute rendition of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" during our "Acoustic Jam Special" on March 13, 2005! We also updated "Local Music News" on the program. (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 081422.)

In Local Music News...

Good news from the Josh Gallagher camp, as the Cresson native and finalist on NBC Television's “The Voice” has signed a deal with Kobalt Music in Nashville. Josh was a contestant on “The Voice” during Season 11 in 2016 and finished fourth. Founded in 2000, Kobalt Music is a prominent independent rights management and music publishing company. Some of their artist roster includes Childish Gambino, The Weeknd and The Chicks.

And the area music scene was saddened in recent days with the passing of Anthony “Tony” Seguin, one of the founders of popular eatery and music venue Boxer's Cafe in Huntingdon. Tony passed on Wednesday, July 27, at age 56 following a battle with cancer. A musician himself, Tony studied jazz piano with the late Arthur Goldstein in State College. He and his wife Paula founded Boxer's Cafe in 1990 and opened a second business, Rothrock Outfitters, in 2000.
