Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 28 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

Punk-rocking guests joined us in the studio this week, as we welcomed Altoona's Abstentious on the program! We met the band members and learned their story, discussed their music, live show and the area punk rock scene, and heard tracks from their first full-length album Without A Moral Compass! We also debuted a new song from Coffee With Lions, updated "Local Music News," dug out a 1990 number from Hollidaysburg's Violent Reactions for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Paper Plants' Disclosure EP in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 082822.)

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

AUGUST WINTERS - "The Lion The Reaper"
RIK GOLDEN - "Alone"
ABSTENTIOUS - "Whatever Lets You Sleep at Night"
BAD LUCK LOVER BOYS - "Pirate Song"
ABSTENTIOUS - "Means Well, Oh Well"

ABSTENTIOUS - "Thinkin' for You"
THE SNIPPED - "All We Know"

HOUR TWO:

POST TRAUMATIK - "Running Wild"
NEGAN - "Where Do We Go From Here"
ABSTENTIOUS - "Just Shut Up"
PAPER PLANTS - "The Worst"
ABSTENTIOUS - "PCC"
VIOLENT REACTIONS - "She's Got Ringworm" (1990, Local Music Flashback)
ABSTENTIOUS - "14 Weeks"
13 SAINTS - "When Pigs Fly"
THE HEATHEN PARADE - "Dead Heat (for Dead Last)"

For the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend, we will try out a new special edition on our program, the "Musician Double-Vision Special!" We will put the spotlight on some of the many "work-aholic" area musicians who are simultaneously involved in two or more bands or projects! We'll hear music involving such busy musicians as Kent Tonkin, Natty Lou Race, John "JT" Thompson, Jeff Pittinger, the Frick Brothers, Nick Stahlman and many more! We'll also update "Local Music News," and speak via phone with Mike Hype, an organizer of the upcoming 3rd annual Homegrown Music Festival - Mike will give us the lowdown on this year's event, which happens on September 10 at Johnstown's Lorain Boro Park! Find out about the area's busiest musicians on the "Musician Double-Vision Special" edition of the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (September 4) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

The lineup is set for the upcoming third annual Homegrown Music Festival, happening on Saturday, September 10 at Lorain Boro Park in Johnstown. The show will start at 2 p.m., and will feature performances by Jeff Webb & the Delectable Sound, Habatat, Even The Odds, Silver Screen and Shiva Skydriver. Tickets are $10 per person, and proceeds benefit local Johnstown area charities. Show organizer Mike Hype will join us on next week's “Homegrown Rocker” to discuss the festival.

And Johnstown musician Shawn Mock has announced that after a two-year layoff due to COVID-19, he is reconvening his original band project called Nothing Planned. Shawn and three new members are bringing the group back, and will be doing the group's original songs plus select covers.
