Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 25 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We again put the spotlight on new music from area bands and artists as we again paid a visit to the mailboxes! We debuted new songs from such names as The Loons, Shiva Skydriver, The Roof, Lucid Yooth & the Cubensis Lenses, Prof Phumpkenhead, Randall Pink, Ma'aM, Paper Plants and Less Than Zero! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2003 number by Johnstown's Lost Ledny from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" twice, hearing from Maryland's The Plate Scrapers during the first hour, and Laramie, Wyoming's Teenage Bottlerocket during the second hour! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 092522.)

In Local Music News...

A benefit show to help out area pets in need of cancer treatments will take place early next month. The “Dog Cancer Bites” show will happen on Saturday, October 8 at Altoona's 4D's Lounge to raise money for the nonprofit organization Dog Cancer Bites, which raises funds to help pay for cancer treatments for pets of families whose financial standing may limit their ability to afford treatments. The show will begin at 9 p.m., and will feature performances from Sunset Over Mars, Hot Fudge Mondaes and Jimmy Mowery.

State College-based heavy metal rockers Befell took part in a major concert event this past Friday. The group performed at the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky. The four-day event featured national headliners each day; including Nine Inch Nails on Thursday, Slipknot on Friday, Kiss on Saturday and Red Hot Chili Peppers on Sunday. Performing besides Befell on Friday were Slipknot, Shinedown, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, In This Moment, Clutch, Helmet and more.

And Altoona-based singer and songwriter John Peacefire is set to release his new album. John will mark the release of the album, Foregone Prophecy, with an album release show this Friday night (Sept. 30) at Molly's Pub & Grill in Altoona.
