Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 11 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

For the final time in 2022, we paid an official visit to the program's mailboxes to discover what new local and regional recordings have arrived in recent weeks! That meant that we debuted a lot of new music - including new holiday songs from The Badlees and East Coast Turnaround, plus new tunes from Blood Union, Chrome Eyes, Ma'aM, OK Otter, Gray Valley, Cass & the Bailout Crew, Inside Out, Light The Lamp, Suburban Downgrade and Chip & the Charge-Ups! We also updated "Local Music News," dug out a 1996 number from Johnstown trio Tokkin for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from Baltimore pop-punk rock specialists Paperback Tragedy! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 121122.)

A popular amateur youth talent show event will make its return to the Altoona area in 2023. Area musician Elaini Arthur announced last week that the green light has been given for the return of the annual “Crazy Fest” Amateur Youth Talent Show next year. Started by area entertainer Dennie Huber in 1990, “Crazy Fest” enjoyed a 25-year run as a showcase for youngsters to demonstrate their performing talents, from singing to dancing to playing instruments, doing magic and much more in front of a friendly and supportive audience. Dennie passed away in June, 2016. According to Elaini's announcement, the new “Crazy Fest” will include a new award called “The Hubie” in Dennie Huber's honor. More details about the date and location of “Crazy Fest” will be forthcoming.

The new band project A Starlite Gray, featuring former members of Naildriver and This Calling, is nearing completion on the recording of their debut EP. The EP, called From Here to Eternity, is expected to be released sometime in early 2023.

The Heathen Parade is planning to unveil new music in January. Expect that new music to arrive " appropriately enough " on Friday the 13th.
