Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 11 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We hit the road to catch up with our band guests this week, Dubois-based blues and blues-rock artists Lone Crow Rebellion (www.lonecrowmusic.com)! We spoke with the band members during "Mammoth Fest," which happened on June 4 at Mammoth Park near Mount Pleasant, where the group was performing! We learned their story and discussed their music, and featured several of their songs, including some from their upcoming new album Coal Train Blues! We also debuted new songs from Infused, Cambria County native Gerry Stanek (now living in Greensboro, North Carolina) and Alyssa Hankey; plus updated "Local Music News" and pulled a 1992 song from Altoona's Dead Reckoning from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 061123.)

In Local Music News...

Guitarist Ruth Williamson recently announced that she is leaving State College folk music trio The Extra Miles to move on to another musical adventure. The Extra Miles recently completed work on their first full-length studio album, which should be issued soon.

Also issuing a new album is Altoona-based punk-driven rockers Treaties. Called Parting Gifts, the album will be released in vinyl form as well as digitally. Pre-orders on the vinyl edition are being accepted. The group said that those who pre-order will be listed in the credits on the album’s inner sleeve. The album follows Treaties’ self-titled 2020 release.

And we at the “Homegrown Rocker” extend speedy get well wishes to Pittsburgh rock legend Donnie Iris. It was recently revealed that shortly after Donnie’s sold-out 80th birthday show in March, he was diagnosed with cancer. He recently had surgery and his prognosis looks favorable. Because of his health issue, Donnie had to cancel out of his June 21 performance at The Foundation Amphitheater in Youngstown, Ohio with REO Speedwagon. Donnie anticipates resuming a regular schedule on July 24 at the Blossom Music Center near Cleveland with Foreigner and Loverboy.

That's a look at “Local Music News.” Bands and artists with news items to report on the program may email their information to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
