Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 19 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Local music fans received a treat this week. Courtesy of a scheduling problem that cropped up late in the week, this week’s edition of the “Backyard Rocker” became a 3-hour program airing from 8 to 11 PM, meaning more local and regional bands and artists received air time this week. We debuted a number of new bands and songs, including tracks from Bridges and a Bottle, Infused, Matt Wagner, Milkshake Jones, Texas Jerry, Mehlt, Grantham Road, Stronghold, Endless Mike & the Beagle Club, Odin’s Court, White Witch, Owensring, Josa Step, and 3 Broken Dolls. We also checked on local music news, reviewed Norman Nardini’s new CD, “Redemption,” on The Professor’s CD Corner, and flashed back to 1987 to hear a tune from Erie’s Mars in our Local Music Flashback feature. Wow, what a week!

In local music news…

First, another benefit concert to report…The first ever “Last Blast 2004” concert will take place on Sunday, September 26, at the Morrisdale Volunteer Fire Company Rec Hall (also known as the Snake Hole), located just off Route 53. The gates open at 11 AM, with the show starting at 12 noon. Bands donating their talents include Roadkill, Suicide Switch, Way Down East, Raging Storm, Something In Itself, Once Nothing, Stiff, At Hope’s End, Not Without Resistance, 4 Days Dirty, plus acoustic performer Jason Wood. The show is all ages. Donation is $8, with the proceeds helping Santa’s Helpers and the Christmas Wish Project, a nonprofit group that helps out the children of Clearfield and Centre Counties during the holiday season. Food and refreshments will be available.

Some changes for local modern rockers Running with Scissors. First, a change behind the drum kit, as Cedric Yoedt takes over timekeeping duties from D.J. Dearmitt. In addition, singer Matt Watson has parted ways with the group. The updated Running with Scissors roster performed in the Altoona area last night.

Acid Reflux is now a duo, following the recent departure of bassist and singer Matt Burns. Singer/guitarist Dwane Edmiston and percussionist Lynn Endress are continuing on as a two-piece.

A change of bass players for Johnstown rockers Lost Ledny. Ryan Long has left the group, and has been replaced by former Ever Since Yesterday bassist Matt Rakar.

And some changes for the York-based rock band Screamapillar. Drummer Ryan Waltemyer is leaving, and played his last show with the band this past Friday night. The group is now seeking a replacement drummer, and intends to form a new project and shed the Screamapillar name.
