Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 19 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week, we invited listeners to break out the eggnog and trim the tree, as we presented the annual “Backyard Rocker” Christmas Special! Starting at 7 PM, we featured three hours of Christmas music originating from local and regional bands and artists. Our region is fortunate this year to have not just one, but two brand new local Christmas album releases, and we spotlighted both on this year’s Christmas Special. For the first 90 minutes, we were joined in the studio by John Cimino, Michael Hughes, Adam and Jennifer Bell – four musicians involved with the new Christmas CD “Lords a Leaping Volume II.” (Thanks gang for the eggnog and cookies!) We discussed the album, and featured numerous tracks from it; plus several lucky listeners called in and won their own copies. For the last 90 minutes, we were joined via phone by former Badlees manager Terry Selders, the executive producer of “The Central-PA Christmas Compilation.” We discussed the album with Terry, featured numerous tracks from the album, and several lucky listeners called in and won copies of it as well. Because Christmas music itself is eclectic by nature, this week’s musical Christmas journey spanned a variety of styles and genres during the show, from traditional to rock, blues, jazz, ska, country/folk, R&B, big band and more.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

TONY HARLAN – “Jingle This”
HALESTORM – “Tempest Holy Night”

As the door closes on another year, the “Backyard Rocker” will spend the next two weeks looking back on 2004 during Parts 1 and 2 of our “2004 Year In Review Special.” During Part 1 this Sunday, we will closely examine the first half of 2004 – from January to June – and recap the bands and artists, news, shows, events and happenings that impacted the area music scene in 2004.
