Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 20 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week’s program was billed as “Rick Ramsey and friends,” and that’s exactly what we had! The former guitarist of area band Stix and Stones, Rick Ramsey these days is a solo performer who plays acoustic shows in Blair and Cambria Counties. Recently, Rick has been dabbling in recording, and has been recording his own music and other area musicians in his home studio. Rick, along with friends Rik Golden and Red Solinski, joined us in the studio to update us on a few of these projects. Although his own solo material was not yet ready to air, Rick shared with us music from several other musicians he has been working with, including Rik Golden (ex-Marauders), Northern Cambria-based singer/songwriter Jerry Burskey, and Altoona-based acoustic duo Hedgerow Red. Rick, Rik and Red also performed two numbers live on the air, including an adaptation of Elton John’s “Daniel” Rick dedicated in memory of a late cousin named Dan, and Rik’s original tune “Nobody Cares.”

Along the way, we updated Local Music News, and debuted additional new tunes from Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys, J.D. Strum and Dave DiStefano.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ECHOTOWN – “A Dinner with Richard Petty”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Backyard Rocker”
RIK GOLDEN – “Alone”
THE MARAUDERS – “Tow the Line”
RIK GOLDEN – “Brown Eye Mary”
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS – “Shuffle Up and Deal”
JERRY BURSKEY – “Elderly Friend”
J.D. STRUM – “The Way She Walks”
DAVE DISTEFANO – “All I Really Want to Do”

HOUR TWO:

JOHN BAKER & SHERRY LENDER – “Creation Song”
HEDGEROW RED – “Welcome Back”
MILKSHAKE JONES – “Daylight Savings Time”
RICK RAMSEY, RIK GOLDEN & RED SOLINSKI – “Daniel” (performed live on air)
JERRY BURSKEY – “What I’ll Miss Most”
BRET ALEXANDER – “Gentleman East”
RIK GOLDEN w/RICK RAMSEY & RED SOLINSKI – “Nobody Cares” (performed live on air)
RIK GOLDEN – “The Gig Is Up”
JERRY BURSKEY – “Liver Fulla Liquor”

This coming Sunday night, we’ll be joined in the studio by area hard rockers 4 Days Dirty. We’ll learn about rising area music name, hear recorded songs from them, and get inside their music and career to date. We’ll also check on Local Music News, and review another local/regional CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” 4 Days Dirty, this Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker!”
