Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 13 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week, we kicked off our eighth year of Sunday night local music on the airwaves with what is fast becoming one of our most popular programs, the Acoustic Jam Special. Again, we invited several of this area’s top acoustic groups and entertainers into the studio, to perform individually, and then pool their talents into some “all-star” jam sessions. Each Acoustic Jam Special so far has taken on a life of its own, and this one too featured some interesting twists and turns along the way, and a surprise ending that had everybody in the house charged up and excited!

The performers this night included Clearfield Americana music trio Blind Jonny Death, Strummer Acoustic Show, Dave DiStefano, John Charney & White Mojo, Wood-n-Strings and Rick Ramsey (who provided the sound board and engineered). There were acoustic guitars, an upright bass, banjos, harmonicas, tambourines and voices all crowded into "The House That Rock Built." After each of the performers entertained the listeners with individual live performances, the “all-star” jam session finale, as the gathered musicians (minus Blind Jonny Death, who had to leave early) ended the show with an 8-minute acoustic reworking of Motorhead’s “Ace Of Spades;” complete with a banjo, harmonica, four acoustic guitars and tambourine! There was some twisted jamming going on here, with the song taking on a Pink Floyd-like vibe midway through, and an evil-sounding finish that left the musicians laughing and celebrating – definitely one for the show’s 2005 highlight reel! Thanks to all the musicians who came and took part, and thanks to Rick Ramsey and John Stevens (Strummer Acoustic Show) for engineering and coordinating the performances.

Along the way, we also heard new tunes from Katsu and Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys.

Here is this week’s playlist:
