Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 23 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our guests this week, Tyrone power trio Electric Blue, for an interesting and entertaining two hours. Originally a blues trio, Electric Blue has expanded their scope to include elements of rock, funk, and even metal into a unique style and groove of their own. The group demonstrated that groove on several new studio tracks, plus performed several songs live in the studio.

In addition, we premiered a lot of new music this week, debuting new tracks from Weapons For Peace (though they are disbanding), D.C. & Co., Foundry Avenue, No Complaint, Not Alone and Searching For Gladys. A busy and eventful show, just the way we like it!

This week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SHERRI MULLEN – “Home of the Free”
MONTY – “America Rocks”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Feline Queen”
NEVERMOURE – “Psycho”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Bitter” (live)
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Away”
WEAPONS FOR PEACE – “Pedestal”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Just Like You” (live)
D.C. & CO. – “Take Me Down”

HOUR TWO:

BURNING BLUE – “Signs”
FOUNDRY AVENUE – “Late October”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Mexican Monsters & Meatfeet”
NO COMPLAINT – “Holding Back”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “No One Else” (live)
NOT ALONE – “New Directions”
SEARCHING FOR GLADYS – “Dysfunctional County”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “”Summertime Love” (live)

This Sunday night, March 30, a two part program. First, we will speak with members of one of the most popular bands in Altoona rock history, The Front, as they get ready to reunite onstage for a special benefit show on Saturday, April 5, with proceeds helping the Make A Wish Foundation of Western PA. We'll find out the band members' thoughts about the benefit, and their reflections on their run on area stages, which started 20 years ago. Then, we welcome the members of Philipsburg/Lewistown foursome Even As We Speak into our studio. We'll become acquainted with the band members, plus hear studio tracks from the group. A busy "Backyard Rocker" doubleheader, this Sunday night!

Other forthcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 6 – Skell
APR. 13 – Falling Forward (formerly Shadow 5)
APR. 20 – Michael Hughes/The Worry Knot
APR. 27 – Axum

Crazy Fest gives young bands and entertainers under the age of 21 the chance to strut their stuff in the limelight and compete for trophies, awards, prizes and recognition in front of a friendly and supportive audience. Any forms of entertainers are welcome: singers, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, bands, magicians, or whatever young imaginations can come up with! Registrations are currently being accepted for participants at this year's event. Volunteers and sponsors are needed as well. For information or an application to register, call Crazy Fest host and organizer Dennie Huber at (814) 942-2516.

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on "The Backyard Rocker" are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: WBXQ Radio, 4000 5th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602; ATTN: Jim Price.
