Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 18 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week’s “Backyard Rocker” contained some drama and adventure; as our in-studio band guests, Dubois-based metal rockers Sever (www.2sever.com), accidentally took a more scenic route while trying to find their way to the station. (We accept some of the blame here, since our studios and business offices are in different locations, and Sever went to the business offices first and wondered why nobody was answering the door.) But eventually, through trial and error, Sever found their way to “the House that Rock built,” and we spent the remainder of the program meeting and getting acquainted with them. We heard tracks from Sever’s self-titled debut album, along with some rough new tracks from the group’s forthcoming EP.

Along the way, we also checked on Local Music News, and reviewed Second Offense’s CD “Suffer Through Dishonesty” in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review will be posted on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com, later this week.) And we debuted new tunes from Fayted, Project Twelve(34) and Suffer This Heaven.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE GRIMM – “My God, It’s Full of Stars”
FLORD – “Clear Mind”
PIVOT – “Y”
FLIGHT 19 – “Migraine”
FAYTED – “Blame Yourself”
INFUSED – “Who Stole the Sun”
PROJECT TWELVE(34) – “Christopher Walken”
SEVER – “Fall Away”

HOUR TWO:

WISKERBISKET – “Killer”
SEVER – “X-Cursion”
SUFFER THIS HEAVEN – “Burning Hearts”
SEVER – “Madness”
SECOND OFFENSE – “Patchwork”
SEVER – “K.R.L.”
SKELL – “Dope”
SEVER – “Presence”

It’ll be a “Wide Open” show next Sunday night, when Clearfield County hard rockers Wide Open join us in the studio. We’ll hear tracks from Wide Open’s debut album, and you may have chances to win a copy! Plus we’ll introduce more new local and regional music, and review the new Kairos album, “Rethink: Reshape” in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Wide Open joins us in the studio, next Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker!”

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 2 – Project Twelve(34)
OCT. 9 – Acoustic Jam Special 4
OCT. 16 – AHRT Rocky Horror Preview

In Local Music News…

The Underground TV’s “Music To The Masses” concert, which was to take place next Saturday in Titusville, has been cancelled due to insurance issues. The Underground TV offers apologies to all the bands slated to perform at the event, and expresses hope to have better luck staging the concert next year.

More benefit concerts for Hurricane Katrina disaster relief are coming together. City Limits in Altoona will host a relief benefit concert on Thursday evening, September 29; and Peter C’s will present a benefit concert for the relief efforts on Saturday, October 8. More details on both shows as they become available.

The annual Kevin Dare Benefit Concert will be taking place at Crowbar in State College on Tuesday evening, Oct. 11. Kevin was a Penn State pole vaulter who died in early 2002 from head injuries when he fell to the ground while competing in the pole vault at the Big Ten Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Minneapolis. Proceeds from the benefit go to the Kevin Dare Foundation, which works to improve safety for track and field events; part of the proceeds also will go to a scholarship fund to be awarded to a Penn State student participating in track and field. Performers at the benefit concert include the bands In, Giants Of Science, Halestorm, Poptart Monkeys, and Amy K. & Love Stomp. Plus acoustic performer Mike Jacober will start the evening. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door, and can be obtained from either the participating bands or at Crowbar. For more information about the concert and Kevin Dare, visit the website www.kevindare.com.

Singer Lexxy Berich has parted ways with Centre/Mifflin County party band rockers Foxxy. The group is continuing to play shows while they seek a new singer.

The York-based band Texas Jerry has completed work on their new CD. The new disc, which will be a full-length album, is currently undergoing final mixing. The group has also announced a name change to A State Of, citing people assuming that they are a country band under the name Texas Jerry.
