Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 20 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

What a busy week! First, thanks to Saxton-based rockers Fayted (www.fayted.com) for a fun two hours. The group discussed their music, career and debut album, The Aftermath, and several lucky listeners called in to win copies. The group also brought along instruments and played one of their songs live and acoustic for us.

In addition, we spoke with Rebecca Catalinet and John Shaeffer, both representing the 6th annual “Night of Rock, Rhythm & Blues” benefit concert, which happens this Wednesday evening, Nov. 23, at Ace’s Lounge in Johnstown. The concert will feature harmonica-playing legend James Cotton and his band, along with Flood City Brass; proceeds will benefit the Johnstown Free Medical Clinic. We also gave away a pair of tickets to a lucky listener.

We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed Third Standard’s latest CD, Karma Clean, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” And we debuted new music from Mudbone.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

NORMAN NARDINI – “Rebel Rouser/Rock and Roll City” (live)
FLIGHT 19 – “Unlock”
FAYTED – “Keep On Smilin’”
MUDBONE – “Must Be Something Better”
FAYTED – “Crystal Creature”
NITEKAST – “Happiness Pills”
FAYTED – “Senoritaville”

HOUR TWO:

BACKSTREET LAW – “Fallen”
FAYTED – “Search In The Dark” (performed live on the air)
FAYTED – “There It Goes”
THIRD STANDARD – “Drowning”
FAYTED – “Mystery Man”
FAYTED – “Beaches”

Next Sunday night, it’s a guest-free edition of the “Backyard Rocker,” meaning less talk and more rock! We’ll get caught up on a number of new CD’s that have arrived in recent weeks, and pack two hours with maximum local and regional bands and artists. Local and regional music to finish off those turkey leftovers to, next Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker!”

In Local Music News…

A change behind the drum kit for Wellsboro modern rockers Backstreet Law. Mike “Choke” Oakley has departed the group due to musical and creative differences; the split is said to be a friendly one. Replacing “Choke” behind the kit is a drummer from the Corning, New York, area, Mike Cavalier.

Fans of Felix & the Hurricanes might want to make a point to see the band within the next two weeks, because Hurricanes public appearances will be rare in December and January. Beginning December 4, the Hurricanes will be embarking on their annual month-long concert tour of the state’s correctional system, playing to literally captive audiences across the state. After that tour winds down at the end of December, the group will be taking the month of January off for vacation.

The Altoona-based band Cucuplex had an interesting weekend. After their singer suddenly quit the group on Friday night, the band was in dire need of a singer for their show Saturday night at Electric Avenue in Houtzdale. After posting an emergency last-minute plea for a singer on Rockpage.net, former Big Bang Theory frontman J. Michaels came to the rescue, and enabled Cucuplex to not only be able to honor their scheduled show, but have a good night as well.

Further upheaval for Dubois heavy rockers Sever, after the announcement that singer Dave Harris has parted ways with the group. According to comments made by drummer Paul Butler on the group’s website, www.2sever.com, , he and guitarist Alvaray Kuhn will continue the group with new members; we’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available.
