Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 11 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our guest, Rhyne McCormick, and his wife for making the roadtrip through snowy conditions from Lewistown to be on this week’s program. We reacquainted our listening audience with Rhyne, and heard numerous tracks from his latest CD, Soul Dust; several lucky listeners also called in to win copies of the disc. Rhyne also performed three songs live on the air, and enlightened us about his career, songwriting process and more. We also updated Local Music News. It was a very entertaining and insightful two hours.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE FLAME SKY – “The Price You Pay”
ROADKILL – “Santa Is a Big Fat Jerk”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “Soul Dust” (performed live on the air)
RHYNE McCORMICK – “Don’t Think”
SHERRI MULLEN – “Broken”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “Train”
J.D. STRUM – “The Drag”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “Say You Love Me” (performed live on the air)
DENISE BALDWIN – “Standing In The Rain”

HOUR TWO:

FAYTED – “Keep Smilin’”
MORGAN KELLY (RHYNE McCORMICK) – “Open Wound”
SWEET PEA FELTY w/DARCIE MINER – “Blue Christmas”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “How Long” (performed live on the air)
RHYNE McCORMICK – “Girl Turned”
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS – “Lucky Charm”
RHYNE McCORMICK – “5104”
JOHN CHARNEY & WHITE MOJO – “I’ve Got My Mojo Workin’”

Next Sunday night, it’s the annual pre-holiday visit from Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys! Since last year, Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys have released a new album called Tight Play; we’ll feature tracks from the CD, plus you’ll have opportunities to call in to win a copy! We’ll also update Local Music News, and review the debut CD from the Tony Mollick Project, Blues Catharsis, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys with some blues you can’t refuse, next Sunday night on the “Backyard Rocker!”

In Local Music News…

Eastern PA-based party band juggernaut UUU has announced that they are hanging it up. According to a report in the December issue of Pennsylvania Musician, the group had gradually lost the desire to perform week in and week out; and decided to ride out their tenure through their tenth anniversary, celebrated last month, before calling it a day.

The State College-based party band Boost is also calling it a day. The group performed their final State College area show last weekend, and is playing out the month with several shows in Ohio. Two Boost members, bassist Bart Hipp and drummer Jim Logrando, are continuing to perform in another band project, Cool Ethan.

Flight 19 guitarist John McKelvey is reportedly doing well and on the way to a full recovery from a mild heart attack suffered before Thanksgiving. Former Electric Blue and current Matt Wagner Band guitarist Jimmy Tangeman has been filling in on guitar with Flight 19 while John recuperates.

A holiday season benefit concert will take place in the Johnstown area next weekend. The St. Vincent De Paul Family Kitchen Benefit Concert will take place next Saturday evening starting at 9:30 at Katie’s Place, formerly Dougherty’s “Terra” Tory, in Johnstown. The concert will feature the bands Pelt, House Of Cain, Killjingle and Pivot. Proceeds will benefit Johnstown’s Family Kitchen.

Middletown-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Sherri Mullen is set to release her second album. The new album, On The Edge, will be officially released this coming week, with a special CD-release event in the Harrisburg area on Thursday night. For information on obtaining the new album, you can check out Sherri’s website, www.sherrimullen.com.
