Here is the recap of the April 20 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.
A busy show this week
First, we spoke via phone with Dennie Huber, the organizer and emcee of the 13th annual "Crazy Fest" Amateur Talent Show, which takes place next Sunday, April 27, at the Greenwood Firehall in Altoona. Dennie gave us a preview of this year's event, where young entertainers under 21 years of age perform and compete for trophies, awards and other prizes, in a friendly and supportive environment.
We then welcomed our in-studio guest, Michael Hughes, to the program. Michael discussed "Dove & Crow," the forthcoming sophomore recording from Michael's studio project, The Worry Knot. We got inside the music and the inspirations behind it, and learned of Michael's plans to promote the album, plus his involvement in other band projects such as Seven, the One Less Tear Band, and playing drums for Lancaster-based performer Jesse Vital.
Besides the new Worry Knot tracks, we also debuted new tracks from Josa Step and Thunderbox.

Q94 is once again happy to be a sponsor this year's Crazy Fest. The 13th annual Crazy Fest Amateur Talent Show takes place this Sunday afternoon, April 27, at 1 PM at the Greenwood Firehall in Altoona (near City Limits). Crazy Fest gives young bands and entertainers under the age of 21 the chance to strut their stuff in the limelight and compete for trophies, awards, prizes and recognition in front of a friendly and supportive audience. Any forms of entertainers are welcome: singers, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, bands, magicians, or whatever young imaginations can come up with! Registrations are currently being accepted for participants at this year's event. Volunteers and sponsors are needed as well.
