Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 25 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week was the annual “Backyard Rocker” Christmas Special, where we featured two hours of Christmas and holiday music from local and regional bands and artists. As Christmas touches different musicians in different ways, this show featured a lot of flavors, from rock to blues to jazz to reggae to country, plus solo piano and guitar performances and more. When I did the first “Backyard Rocker” Christmas Special back in 1998, I had to struggle to fill one hour with local and regional holiday music. But now, thanks to the musicians who have sent holiday recordings in to the program over the years, I easily filled up two hours and could have probably filled two more! We debuted one new holiday tune on this year’s special, from Shame to close out the program.

And I related a special Christmas story of my own. Back in mid-November, somebody stole a digital camera from my car, one of the cameras that I relied on to photograph bands and artists in my work with Pennsylvania Musician Magazine and Rockpage. Once word spread about the theft, a number of area musicians – spearheaded by Dave Moses and Ken Gray – organized an effort to collect funds and purchase a new camera for me. The camera was officially presented to me this past Friday night during Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys’ performance at Burgi’s Roundhouse. As I said on the air during the show, THANK YOU to this area’s music community, for the camera and for making this a very special Christmas for me. I will never forget it!

Here is this week’s playlist:
