Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 5 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Needless to say, this was a very special week on the “Backyard Rocker,” as we celebrated eight years of bringing local and regional bands and artists to Q94’s airwaves every Sunday night. The show began as a one-hour program in early March, 1998, and over the years has introduced hundreds of area musicians to the listeners of central Pennsylvania. As I said towards the end of the program, it is the quality of this area’s musicians and the music they create that keeps me doing what I do every Sunday night – To you, the musicians: Keep making the music, and I’ll keep sharing it with the world every Sunday night!

Back when the “Backyard Rocker” first began in 1998, our very first band guests in the studio were Felix & the Hurricanes (www.felixandthehurricanes.com). Keeping with tradition, the Hurricanes return for the anniversary special edition of the “Backyard Rocker” every year, and this year was no exception. Thanks to Felix Kos (and his daughter, Brianna, whose drawing of the sun now adorns the Q94 control room door), Jeff Clapper, Bob Watters and their tag-along guests for a fun three hours! We heard tunes from the Hurricanes’ newly-assembled live compilation disc; and we gave away a few advance copies to lucky listeners, along with a Hurricanes tie-dye T-shirt. Also, the Hurricanes brought instruments and performed several songs live on the air. Along the way, we also showcased highlights from the past year on the “Backyard Rocker,” hearing music from the many guests who appeared during Year 8 of the show.

Again, thanks to the musicians for providing the inspiration to put this show on the air every week; thanks to Q94 management for allowing me to bring central PA’s finest bands and artists to the airwaves every Sunday night; and thanks to all the listeners who check out the show each week, and support the area musicians. We all appreciate it!
