Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 12 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

One of my favorite “Backyard Rocker” programs to put together is the Acoustic Jam Special, and the fifth Special only slammed the exclamation point on that statement – what a great time! Thanks to Rock & Rye, .00 Buck, Todd Hinkle and Rick Ramsey (who supplied the sound board and mixed and engineered) for another great special! We left each of the aforementioned names perform a song or two live, and then for the show’s homestretch, let them go for broke and jam together! This particular Acoustic Jam Special took a little more of a country-flavored lean; probably the first time a local country-styled jam has hit area airwaves since the days when Duggie Potter was on television! The performances and jams were all fun, and it was great to watch the magic unfold from the other side of the console!

Along the way, we updated Local Music News, and reviewed Sodajerk’s self-titled album on “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be viewed on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com, in the "Backyard Rocker" section of the message board area.) We also debuted tunes from Jill West and Blues Attack, Issues and Jenn London. What a busy and fun two hours!

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ALL-STAR JAM – “Ace Of Spades” (performed live on air 3/13/05)
JILL WEST AND BLUES ATTACK – “Four Letter Word”
TODD HINKLE & RICK RAMSEY – “Send Me On My Way” (performed live on air)
TODD HINKLE – “Steppin’”
ROCK & RYE – “You And Me” (performed live on air)
ROCK & RYE – “Shimmer” (performed live on air)
GRADE E – “Emmett”
ISSUES – “Creature of the Night”

HOUR TWO:

.00 BUCK – “King of the Road” (performed live on air)
.00 BUCK – “Copperhead Road” (performed live on air)
JENN LONDON – “Crazy Thought”
RICK RAMSEY – “Redemption Song” (performed live on air)
RICK RAMSEY – “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In a Small Town” (performed live on air)
JERRY BURSKEY – “Liver Full of Liquor”
SODAJERK – “Lonely in the City”
ALL-STAR JAM – “Folsom Prison Blues” (performed live on air)
ALL-STAR JAM – “Can’t You See” (performed live on air)

Next Sunday night, our guests will be Altoona-based heavy rockers 4 Days Dirty. 4 Days Dirty has just released their debut studio album, Raise Your Hand…If You Feel Like Dying. We’ll hear tunes from the album, and lucky listeners will have opportunities to call in to win a copy! Plus, the band members will discuss the album, their music and career to date. 4 Days Dirty returns to the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

In Local Music News…

Three former members of The Rudys have formed a new band. Guitarists Denny Cisney and Tom Cox and bassist Gary Frisco have joined with singer Eric Krout and drummer Jon McCloskey to form the band Oneway. The group will perform a selection of tunes from the 80’s to present, along with their own original tunes. Oneway is currently seeking show situations, and expects to be on area stages soon.

Two former members of Delirium are back in action with a new band. Singer Scott Walk and guitarist Brett O’Donnell are now in Tie Down, a new band based out of the Cresson area. The group also features Craig Fitzpatrick on bass and keys, Tim Eckenrode on guitar and Jason Grodis on drums. The group played their second show this past weekend.

We have received word that Misbehave, the band featuring former members of 404, disbanded in January.

If you are a band or artist hoping to showcase at this year’s 10th annual Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, the deadline is approaching to submit applications to showcase. March 31 is the deadline for showcase entries to be submitted. The Millennium Music Conference take place from June 22-24 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Harrisburg. For more information about the conference and submitting applications, visit their website at www.musicconference.net.

As part of their celebration of Women's History Month, Penn State Altoona is presenting New York-based singer, songwriter and speaker Jenn London at the Slep Student Center on Thursday evening, March 23 starting at 10 PM. Jenn learned all aspects of the music business by temping at record labels, and released her first album in 2001. She'll be talking about how she learned to manage her own career, which has included touring, performing with the Armed Forces Entertainment Military Tour in the Middle East, and theater work as well.

Johnstown heavy metal trio House Of Cain has completed work on their first CD. The group is handing out copies of the album, Silencing Of The Lambs Pt. 1: IniTIa6tE, at shows. We will debut a track from the album on next Sunday’s “Backyard Rocker.”

And work is progressing on Issues first studio album. The album will be entitled Pictures (Thinking In), and is currently being recorded at Rick Claar’s Frontbros. recording studio in Altoona.
