Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 26 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week’s program was brought to you by the letter ‘E.’ We got better acquainted with new Altoona-based band project, Grade E (www.gradee.com). Grade E features three alumni of former Altoona funk/jam-rockers Neogumbo; singer/guitarist Chris Vipond, bassist Mike Stanley and drummer Todd Harshbarger (who also drums for Silver Sunday). We got inside Grade E and their music, and heard a number of tracks from their forthcoming debut CD, expected out late spring or early summer. We also dug into the local music archives to flash back and hear a song from these musicians’ former band, Neogumbo. Along the way, we checked on Local Music News, and debuted new tunes from Felix & the Hurricanes, Fast Eddie, Solegion, Synged and Jenn London.

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Who’s Fooling Who” (live)
FAT VINNY & THE WISEGUYS – “Shuffle Up and Deal”
GRADE E – “Be”
TONY MOLLICK PROJECT – “Rusty Angel”
GRADE E – “Emmett”
HALESTORM – “It’s Not You” (live)
GRADE E – “Mined”
FAST EDDIE – “The Calling”
SOLEGION – “Solidarity Prayer”

HOUR TWO:

SILVER SUNDAY – “I Know”
GRADE E – “End”
NEOGUMBO – “Star” (1997, Local Music Flashback)
GRADE E – “Pink Parking Ticket”
SYNGED – “Hanging Tree”
GRADE E – “Escape”
JENN LONDON – “It’s All Okay”
GRADE E – “Lucy”
THE NIGHTCRAWLERS – “Latin Groove”

Next Sunday night, our guests will be the Shippensburg-based rock band Ledbetter Heights. We’ll get acquainted with the band members and learn about their music and career to date; plus we’ll hear songs from the group’s forthcoming debut CD, and the group will bring acoustic instruments and perform some numbers live on the air! Ledbetter Heights visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

APR. 9 – Zelazowa
APR. 16 – Ken Gray
APR. 23 – Silver Sunday
APR. 30 – Blue Number Nine

In Local Music News…

Last week we reported that drummer Kyle Taylor had left Harrisburg rockers Condition K. This week we can report the reason for that departure, as Kyle is reuniting with his former bandmates, popular Harrisburg-based modern rock band Julian Fist. Julian Fist is reforming after a four-year hiatus; the group is working on new songs and a new album.

Hershey-based heavy rockers Balistic have finally found their new rhythm section. According to the group’s website, Khoa Pham takes over bass duties, while Steve Camasso will play the drums. The group is gearing up for their return to live stage action later this spring.

Cambria County rockers Exit 10 have gone their separate ways, citing personal differences.

Pittsburgh heavy rockers Skell are currently in limbo as they work in a temporary lead singer to replace Pat “Bones” Bono, who had to leave the band temporarily to attend school in Europe over the next few months. According to Skell’s website, the group will schedule more shows once the temporary frontman is worked in.

Meanwhile, two former members of Skell have reunited in a new band. Singer Chris “Scooby” Dittman and drummer Rich Palone are now in a new Pittsburgh-based band called Rokbot.

Halestorm will be releasing their live EP, One And Done, in stores on April 25. The EP has been available only at the group’s shows, and was being sold during Halestorm’s recent appearances on the Winterfresh Sno-Core Tour.
