Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 14 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”

Originally, we had planned to stage the latest installment of the show's popular "Acoustic Jam Special," where area acoustic players perform live and jam together on common songs. But since Q94 is in the process of moving its studios into a new facility, we decided to pass on the “Acoustic Jam Special” until after the dust settles following the move. So with no guests in the studio this week, we instead devoted the program to getting caught up on a number of new recordings that have arrived at “Backyard Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We heard new tunes from Bloody Fingers, Shannon Marsyada, 99 Burning, Signal Lost, Rob Wallace and the Mess, Captain of Compliments, New Atlantic and Cootie Brown. We also reviewed Ted McCloskey’s new CD, Technicolor Thieves, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

WHITE WITCH - “Game That I Play”
STEEL - “Black and Blue”
BLOODY FINGERS - “Places”
BLUE NUMBER NINE - “Dig My Hands”
SHANNON MARSYADA - “Valleys”
POPTART MONKEYS - “Valerie”
DASHBOARD MARY - “Frustrated”
VS. THE EARTH - “Lightswitch”
99 BURNING - “She's My Addiction”
BAD DAZE - "Lost" (live)
SIGNAL LOST - "One More Lie"

HOUR TWO:

THE GRIMM - “Flatline Parts I & II"”
ROB WALLACE AND THE MESS - “Cross That Mason-Dixon Line”
TED McCLOSKEY - “Drinking In Tonight”
CAPTAIN OF COMPLIMENTS - "What Do You Say?"
REAL BE EASYS - “Ipso Facto”
NEW ATLANTIC- “Cold Hearted Town”
THE FLAME SKY - “Only In Your Head”
COOTIE BROWN - “Dakota"

Next Sunday, we’ll be discussing “Rocky Horror” with our guest in the studio, John Charney! John is once again the musical director for another edition of “The Rocky Horror Show,” this time the Mad Muse Productions edition of the Halloween season classic, being staged later this month at The Brewery in State College. We'll find out the scoop on this year’s production, hear some music from the production, and also music from John Charney and his assorted studio projects! Plus, we'll review Milkshake Jones’ new CD, Gala Days, in "The Professor's CD Corner!" John Charney returns to the "Backyard Rocker," next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 28 - White Witch (Halloween Special)
NOV. 4 - Acalasia
NOV. 11 - Our Broken Silence
NOV. 18 - Subdue
NOV. 25 - Way Down East
DEC. 2 - Hi-Tyde
DEC. 9 - SongWorks
DEC. 16 - Images Of Eden

The "Backyard Rocker" is happy to announce its continued partnership with "The Underground TV," the local/regional music television show airing on WWPC Fox 8 Sunday and Monday mornings at 1 AM. Check out "The Underground" as it features different unsigned local and regional bands every week; and watch for "Backyard Rocker" updates on the show each week as well!

For regular updates on what is happening on the area music scene, pay a visit to Rockpage (www.rockpage.net). Rockpage features band links, a message board, "Backyard Rocker" updates, the online 'zine publication "The Final Cut," and other local music scene information.

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on "The Backyard Rocker" are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: WBXQ Radio, 2513 6th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602; ATTN: Jim Price. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM - 5 PM.

Help guarantee the program’s future, and consider becoming an advertising sponsor of the “Backyard Rocker.” If your business involves music, a “Backyard Rocker” sponsorship can get your message in front of listeners interested in music. To inquire about becoming a sponsor of the “Backyard Rocker,” call Diane Boslet during regular business hours at (814) 943-6112, or email diane@wbxq.com.
