Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 9 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Thanks to our guests, western PA garage punksters Next Stop Detox, for making the roadtrip in to be on the program. We heard songs from Next Stop Detox’s forthcoming full-length CD release, which is expected out in mid-summer. The band members also discussed their music, live show, goals and more. We also checked on local music news, and reviewed Michael Reich’s latest album, “Who’s Minding the Store.” And we debuted new songs from Stronghold and Negative Space.

The playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE MARAUDERS – “New Tattoo”
ELECTRIC BLUE – “Feline Queen”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “3 Years Ago”
THIRD STANDARD – “Rabbit Run”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “Destined”
EVENSONG – “Murmur”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “I’m A Bore”
KEYSTONE ALL STARS – “Once…And Young”
STRONGHOLD – “Power Rises”
IMAGES OF EDEN – “Aladdin”

HOUR TWO:

INFUSED – “Within”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “Sick of Growing Up”
MICHAEL REICH – “Line In The Sand”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “Proving Everyone Wrong”
NEGATIVE SPACE – “Nothing Ordinary”
NEXT STOP DETOX – “Back to School”
EMILY’S TOYBOX – “Acappella”
AIXELSYD – “Stand Up”

This Sunday night, our guests will be Baltimore progressive hard rockers Images Of Eden. We’ll meet the band members and get inside their music and career to date. We’ll hear tracks from the group’s debut CD, and you’ll have chances to call in and win a copy! Images Of Eden visits the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!

Other forthcoming guests and specials include:

In local music news this week:

Changes for a couple of local bands. Singer and guitarist Jarrod Spinazzola has left the group Destroy Elroy, and has hooked up with a new band, Days End, which features former members of Looking For June. Days End’s first show in the Altoona area will be on Saturday, June 5th at the annual Teenfest near Altoona Area High School. The remaining members of Destroy Elroy are continuing on, and are presently seeking a new singer and guitarist.

The band Flord has found their new drummer. The new drummer’s name is Randy, and he hails from Breezewood. Randy made his debut behind Flord’s drum kit last weekend when the group opened for Sound Of Silence at the Duane Hardy benefit show at Mount Union’s County Line Inn.

A recent band guest on the “Backyard Rocker” has called it a day. The Harrisburg-based band Evensong, who appeared on the show last month, has decided to go their separate ways to pursue other projects.
