Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 20 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week, for the second year in a row, we celebrated Father’s Day by presenting the “Fathers & Sons/Daughters of Local Music Special.” We featured music from some of this area’s dads and moms, along with their kids – sometimes all in the same group! We examined local and regional music family ties and lineage.

In addition, we aired a conversation with members of the nonprofit organization Get Closer To The Music. With the goal of introducing young people and others to the world of music, Get Closer To The Music is presenting a special free workshop event on July 10 at Altoona’s 6th Ward Recreation Center. Those attending will be able to see area bands musicians perform, and then be able to ask questions and have hands-on experience with various instruments. Bands and musicians taking part include Felix & the Hurricanes, Fat Vinny & the Wiseguys, Aaron Kimmel and more.

This week’s playlist (names listed are family members involved in band):

HOUR ONE:

JOHN BAKER & SHERRY LENDER – “Rita’s Party” (John Baker – dad)
