Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 27 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

This week, we welcomed Bellwood-based rockers The Rudys into our studio. We heard tracks from the group’s forthcoming debut CD, “Rudys Awakening,” which comes out later this summer. We met the band members, and discussed their album, music, live show, career plans and more. Also along the way, we checked on local music news, and reviewed Spitshine’s new CD, “Transaudio,” on The Professor’s CD Corner. And we debuted new songs from Searching For Gladys, Dofka and Screamapillar.

This week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ACID REFLUX – “Neon Jungle”
INFUSED – “Within”
THE RUDYS – “Country Cadillac”
SEARCHING FOR GLADYS – “Make Your Mind”
THE RUDYS – “Favorite Song”
NEGATIVE SPACE – “Holiday”
THE RUDYS – “My Backyard”
DOFKA – “N.I.B.”

HOUR TWO:

DRIVEN – “Chaos & Rock’n’Roll”
THE RUDYS – “Armed Forces”
SPITSHINE – “Mandalyn”
THE RUDYS – “Synthetic Affection”
WISKERBISKET – “Be My Lover”
THE RUDYS – “The Big H”
SCREAMAPILLAR – “8-Ball”
THE RUDYS – “Two Sides”

This Sunday night on the program, we’ll recap this past weekend’s happenings at the 8th annual Millennium Music Conference, which took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Harrisburg. Nearly 300 bands and artists converged on the state’s capitol to showcase their original music. Millennium also featured keynote speakers, seminars and panels covering various aspects of the music business and industry, a trade show and more. We’ll feature sound clips from Millenium, as well as music from a number of the showcasing bands and performers. We recap the Millennium Music Conference on the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!

Other forthcoming guests and specials include:

JULY 11 – Spitshine
JULY 18 – Gypsy & the Crazymoon

In Local Music News…

More developments in the saga regarding the band once known as Stept On. Bassist Art Armani has announced that he is stepping away from the band, now called In. Replacing Art in the group is the bass player he originally replaced when he first joined Stept On, as Adam Zimmer rejoins guitarist Matt Day, drummer Josh Hetrick and new singer Greg Locke. In joining with In, though, Adam has stepped away from Wake Up Screaming, the group he and drummer Jim Bagrosky eventually formed after both leaving Stept On. And subsequently, Wake Up Screaming has announced that they are disbanding, but that new projects may soon be forthcoming from the ashes.

If you are up for a roadtrip during the 4th of July weekend, the annual Rock The Block festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 3rd and 4th, in downtown Shamokin, featuring two days of live rock, various activities, vendors and more. Proceeds from the event help fund Shamokin’s annual 4th of July fireworks display, with food sales helping out local community groups. Bands performing on Saturday include Bad Hair Day, The Fobias and Sour Girl. Bands on Sunday include Haymaker, Truck Stop Love Child, Lessen One, 4 Saken, Imperfect Vision, Seventh Hour, Cell 7, Dead 50’s, Carfax Abbey, Halestorm, Spinebelt, Cyphilis, Negative Space, and the swan song performance of Dead Leaves. Admission is $8 for advance tickets, or $10 at the gate. For more information, visit the Rock the Block web site at www.rocktheblock.net.

And on July 10, five area bands will provide the entertainment following the 4th annual Memorial Poker Run, held in memory of Chris “Stretch” Hamilton and Dan McDermott. The bands Legends of the Lost & Found, Ever Since Yesterday, Beyond Reason, Totem and Felix & the Hurricanes will perform following the motorcycle run, which is being sponsored by Cambria County ABATE. Proceeds from the event help out several needy area children. For more information about the poker run, call Chris at (814) 886-7029 or Tom at 886-2664.
