Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the Dec. 28 edition of Rocky 104.9's new weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Pittsburgh Steelers football season. (The show will air from 8 to 10 PM after the Steelers' season concludes.)

This week, we closed the book on 2008 with a special three-hour edition of the “Homegrown Rocker!” In our 2008 Year In Review Special, we recapped the entire past year, starting with January and working our way through to December. Along the way, we checked out the noteworthy local music news, special shows, band personnel moves, break-ups, make-ups, transformations, and more. We also heard plenty of tunes from local and regional bands and artists who left their mark on the area music scene in 2008. Again, it was a jam-packed three hours of memories, information and music!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MARK ALLEN PROJECT – “Happy New Year (Toss Me a Beer)”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Coyote Blues”
JUSTMEGAN – “This Town”
SARAH FLECK & THE PALPITATIONS – “Aviator Baby”
ROADKILL – “Public Service Announcement from the Anti-Valentine’s Day
Council”
SLACKER THEORY – “Shake”
MY TURNING POINT – “Found My Way”
IRON SAUSAGE – “Hold On” (live 4/5/08 at Aldo’s)

HOUR TWO:

ZUPE & NICHOLS – “A Dash of Dementia”
THE AVANTGARDE – “Mama’s Right”
ACALASIA – “So Much for the Railcar”
THE FLAME SKY – “Only in Your Head”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Walk Away”
TED McCLOSKEY – “Out with the Old Queens”
61 SOUTH – “Let’s Work Together”
FLIGHT 19 – “Crank it Up”
NITEKAST – “Where the Devil Sleeps”
THE MARAUDERS – “She Took a Shot”

HOUR THREE:

RYAN MATTHEW – “Steeler Fan”
WAY DOWN EAST – “Jager Shots for Par”
CHRIS V. & THE STANLEY STREET BAND – “Media Controls the World”
MYSTERYTRAIN – “As the Day Slips Between” (live 12/6/08 at 30 Something)
THE LAMPSHADES – “Scotland”
SPIRIT LOST – “Mistrust”
LIES, INC. – “Don’t Blink”
THE FRONT – “Lay Down Your Arms”
HALESTORM – “The Hand”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Keep On Rockin’”

Next Sunday night, we’ll kick off 2009 by getting caught up on some of the new local and regional recordings that arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters during the holiday season. We’ll also update Local Music News, present music from a past band or artist as a “Local Music Flashback,” and review Nate Myers & the Aces’ Persist CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Two hours of maximum local and regional music will launch New Year 2009 on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

Forthcoming guests and specials include:

JAN. 18 – XHIBITION
FEB. 1 – SUPER BOWL WIDOW’S SPECIAL (THE LADIES OF LOCAL MUSIC)
