Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 6 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

It was a hard rocking edition of the "Backyard Rocker" this week. Thanks to our guest, guitarist Mike Palone of Pittsburgh heavy rockers Skell, for coming in and discussing the band, their recently-released self-titled debut CD, their live show and career to date. We heard plenty of songs from the CD, and six lucky listeners won copies of the album. If you liked what you heard from Skell and want more information about them, visit their website, www.skellrocks.com.

We also premiered new songs from Inside Out, Spinebelt, Shatterpak and Inversion. We also flashed back to 1979, and a track from Pittsburgh rocker David Werner's self-titled album (featuring Altoona's Thom Mooney on drums). Nowadays a songwriter and producer, David is listed in the credits on Skell's album for assisting in production on one song. And we also recapped The Front's reunion benefit concert this past Saturday night at Altoona's Bavarian Hall, as over 800 fans attended and raised thousands of dollars for the Make A Wish Foundation of Western PA and the Athleen Stehr Scholarship Fund at Penn State Altoona. It was a busy, music-packed edition of the "Backyard Rocker!"

This week's playlist:

E.S. WHITEFISCH – “I Know”
BACKSTREET LAW – “Stages”

This Sunday night, April 13, we we get to the bottom of "the name game" with our guests, Shades of June from Johnstown. The group started as Shadow, changed their name to Shadow 5 during their first appearance on the show last year, changed their name again to Falling Forward late last year, and announced this past week the latest name change to Shades of June. We'll hear new tunes from this band, and find out what is new with them. They might change their name again by the time the show rolls around, but for the moment, Shades of June visits the "Backyard Rocker," this Sunday night!

Other forthcoming guests and specials include:

Crazy Fest gives young bands and entertainers under the age of 21 the chance to strut their stuff in the limelight and compete for trophies, awards, prizes and recognition in front of a friendly and supportive audience. Any forms of entertainers are welcome: singers, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, bands, magicians, or whatever young imaginations can come up with! Registrations are currently being accepted for participants at this year's event. Volunteers and sponsors are needed as well. For information or an application to register, call Crazy Fest host and organizer Dennie Huber at (814) 942-2516.

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on "The Backyard Rocker" are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: WBXQ Radio, 4000 5th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602; ATTN: Jim Price.
