Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 6 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.

Seven years ago, in early March 1998, Q94’s “Backyard Rocker” first took to the airwaves, providing area bands and musicians an opportunity to have their music heard by listeners. Originally the show was one hour; by the second year it expanded to two hours, and the “Backyard Rocker” has been going strong every Sunday evening since! This night was the 7th Anniversary Special, loaded with three hours of band and show highlights from the past year, and our annual Anniversary Special visit from Felix & the Hurricanes. Felix, Bob and Jeff updated us on everything Hurricanes; including a recap of the group’s recent tour of state prisons, their performance as part of One Less Tear last summer at Johnstown’s “Thunder In the Valley” motorcycle rally, and more. The group also performed several new songs live on the air. As expected, it was another memorable anniversary bash; kick yourself if you missed it!

Here is this week’s playlist:

HOUR ONE:

TRACE MORAN – “Revenge”
HOMER’S ARMY – “Running On Empty”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Backyard Rocker”
JOHN SOLINSKI & KEN KARLHEIM – “What’s Up” (performed live on air 3/14/04)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Blue Jean Blues” (live)
GYPSY & THE CRAZYMOON – “All Out Of Lies”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Sabra”

HOUR TWO:

NORMAN NARDINI – “Burnin’ Up”
STEVE SUMMERHILL – “Pinball Wizard” (performed live on air 3/14/04)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “You Say I Say”
DAVE BLACKLEDGE – “I Blew Up My Date” (performed live on air 5/2/04)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Strength and Courage” (performed live on air)
SOUNDRIVE – “Insert A Face”
SPITSHINE – “Satellite” (performed live on air 7/11/04)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Walking A Straight Line”
VS. THE EARTH – “Forever Yours” (performed live on air 9/12/04)

HOUR THREE:

PROJECT TWELVE(34) – “Terminal Torque”
FALSE ICONS – “Mystified”
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Sometimes” (performed live on air)
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Satisfy Suzy” (live)
HERBIE – “Inside” (performed live on air 10/10/04)

SIDESTEP – “Sidesteppin’” (performed live on air 2/27/05)
MATT WAGNER – “Hey Mister” (performed live on air 11/14/04)

This coming Sunday night, the “Backyard Rocker” kicks off its eighth year in grand fashion, with the third installment of our “Acoustic Jam Special.” As before, we will welcome several of this area’s top acoustic performers into the studio to play songs individually, and then jam together! Performers confirmed for this special include Strummer Acoustic Show, Blind Jonny Death, John Charney & White Mojo, Dave DiStefano, Acid Reflux, Wood-n-Strings, and Rick Ramsey. Musical fireworks are guaranteed! It will be like a back porch jam session when these musicians join us for the “Acoustic Jam Special” on the “Backyard Rocker,” this Sunday night!
