Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we spoke via phone with Bob from western PA-based rock, pop and blues group Shannon and the Merger (http://shannonandthemerger.com.) We found out the group's story, got inside their career and music, and heard tracks from their CD Long Way Down! Along the way, we debuted new tunes from Crawdad Joe, Condition Oakland and Big Atlantic. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1999 number by Pittsburgh's Grapevine from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Angry Johnny Stangry & His CRS Band's The Sike-O CD CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Issues"
THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON - "The Party After the Show"
SHANNON & THE MERGER - "Aim to Misbehave"
CRAWDAD JOE - "Stay Awake"

SHANNON & THE MERGER - "Elemental"
GRAPEVINE - "Shine" (1999, Local Music Flashback)

BIG ATLANTIC - "Motive"

On our next program, we will dig into the show mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks - meaning we will debut plenty of new tracks for you! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Sourmash's First Shot EP in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

SEPT. 25 - The Chrome Hearts

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
