Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 4 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Once again, we knew what we were up against from the sporting world this night - Super Bowl LII. So while the Philadelphia Eagles battled their way to their first Super Bowl victory against New England, the "Homegrown Rocker" stuck with its annual tradition during this game - presenting the 2018 installment of the "Ladies of Local Music" Special! We celebrated the music-making women of the PA music scene - the singers, the songwriters, and the ladies who play instruments, from guitars and basses to keys to banjos to drums, and even kazoos! We covered a broad spectrum of musical sounds, from rock and metal to folk, Celtic, bluegrass, blues, country, alternative and more! We also dug into the archive for a 1999 tune from singer Kim Asbury and Original Soul Project for this week's "Local Music Flashback!"

Here is this week's playlist (with spotlighted 'Ladies of Local Music' in parentheses):

HOUR ONE:

THE CREW OF THE HALF MOON (Katie Rhodes) - "U-235"

FULL KILT (Mandy Passmore-Ott) - "Picking Up the Tunes for Lannigan's Ball"
OVERHEAD (Wendy Hanson, Eileen Christman) - "Say the Word"
SHERRI MULLEN (Sherri) - "Geography"
