Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 6 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we spoke with guests Randy Wilson and Zac Grace, organizers of the annual "Day of Rock" benefit concert, which happens on June 16 at Altoona's Railroaders Museum to benefit the Altoona Chapter of Because We Care Therapy Services. During our discussion, recorded at McGarvey's in Altoona, Randy and Zac gave us the lowdown on this year's event, and we featured music by some of the participating bands and artists who will perform that day. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Late Last Nite, Black Ridge PABG and Negan, updated "Local Music News," dug out a 2007 tune by Zac's former band, Fayted, for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Baltimore's Deaf Scene!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Never Again"
MAKING STATE - "All I Need"
MATT PLETCHER - "Sure Thing"
JOSH GALLAGHER - "Pick Any Small Town"
ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "From a Coma"
MATT AQUILINE & THE DEAD END STREETS - "Pennsylvania"
LATE LAST NITE - "Rebound Girl"
ONE OF THE BIGS - "Out of Dodge"
BLACK RIDGE PABG - "Locusts"

HOUR TWO:

SHATTERED - "Hell Bent"
SILVER SCREEN - "Labelled Off"
NEGAN - "Obsolete"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Wrong Path"
INSIDE OUT - "Taking My Life"
FAYTED - "Keep Smilin'" (2007, Local Music Flashback)
BACKLASH - "Livin' Free"
DEAF SCENE - "Rijal" (Across State Lines)

Band guests will join us on our next program, as we meet up with the members of Johnstown-based hard rockers Silver Screen! We will meet the band members and learn the group's story, and feature tunes from their debut EP Inertia! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Whiskey Pie's Lifestyles of the Poor & Lonely CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

MAY 20 - Tim Woods Band
MAY 27 - Memorial Day Special
JUNE 3 - Psycho Prophecy
JUNE 10 - Hate Grenade
JUNE 17 - Father's Day Special
