Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 13 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we met up with our band guests, Johnstown-based hard rockers Silver Screen, for a conversation recorded at The Haven Lounge in Johnstown. We met the band members and learned their story, got inside their music, and heard tracks from their debut EP Inertia. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors, Execution Day and Negan, updated "Local Music News," dug out a 2003 tune by Lost Ledny for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Whiskey Pie's Lifestyles of the Poor & Lonely in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Frozen Moments"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "You Are My Everything"
SILVER SCREEN - "Talk to Me"
JONAH WHALE - "Break the Silence"
SILVER SCREEN - "Labelled Off"
SMOKIN' GUNNZ - "One Horse Saturday Night"
SILVER SCREEN - "Codeine"
EXECUTION DAY - "Lifeline"

HOUR TWO:

ONE ADAM 12 - "Burden of Truth/Bulletproof"
NEGAN - "We"
SILVER SCREEN - "Make Believe"
WHISKEY PIE - "Pines"
SILVER SCREEN - "Bar Swing"
LOST LEDNY - "Pointless" (2003, Local Music Flashback)
SILVER SCREEN - "Cheap Nachos"

A guest will join us on our next program, as we meet up with western PA-based singer, songwriter and musical family patriarch Tim Woods! We will meet Tim and learn his story, and feature tunes from his latest CD Human Race! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," and dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive!

In Local Music News...

A popular area band is returning to action after a few years away. The Marauders have reunited, and are working on new song material. Before parting ways in 2009, the group enjoyed an excellent run in the early 2000s, highlighted by national touring, and even Brian Setzer writing their title song for them. The reunited lineup includes singer and guitarist Ben Dumm, drummer Abe Weber, upright bass player Chris Lawson and Brian Dumm on guitar. The Marauders have been announced as one of the performing acts for Johnstown's Flood City Music Festival in early August.

The regional music scene was dealt more sad news this past week with the passing of Smokin' Gunnz singer and drummer Robert Morris, Sr. on Monday, May 7 at age 52. Bob was a member of Smokin' Gunnz, a popular Harrisburg-based southern rock band, for most of their 20-plus year history. He started playing drums at age 5. We at the "Homegrown Rocker" express our sympathies for Bob's family, friends and musical colleagues.
