Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 10 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Our guests this week were Altoona nu-metal rockers Hate Grenade, in a conversation recorded at McGarvey's in Altoona. (Thanks Rich McGarvey!) We got caught up on all things Hate Grenade, including the creation of their new CD, The King Is Dead, and we featured songs from the disc! Along the way, we debuted a new song from Dive and updated "Local Music News." And with Hate Grenade as guests, we dug out a 2011 tune from Chuck Lavera and Mike Powers' previous band, Represent the Lie, for this week's "Local Music Flashback."

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

SKELL - "Everything's Fine"
SMALL TOWN HORROR SHOW - "Poison Apples"
HATE GRENADE - "Burn"
DIVE - "In Your Head"
HATE GRENADE - "The King Is Dead"
INSIDE OUT - "Sacrifice"
HATE GRENADE - "Temptress"
SMALL TOWN TITANS - "Me, Myself and Monster"

HOUR TWO:

NEGAN - "Obsolete"
PSYCHO PROPHECY - "Get It Done Son"
HATE GRENADE - "Revelation"
SHATTERED - "Love Hate Obsession"
HATE GRENADE - "Rue"
REPRESENT THE LIE - "On the Inside" (2011, Local Music Flashback)
HATE GRENADE - "Watch Your Back"
EMBER'S FALL - "No Escape"

With our next program falling on Father's Day, we will follow with "Homegrown Rocker" tradition and present our annual Father's Day Special, where we celebrate family traditions on the area music scene! We will spotlight music featuring area dads, moms, sons and daughters, with several songs featuring two generations of musicians! Along the way, we will dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review a CD from a regional music scene dad, Tim Woods' Human Race, in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

JUNE 24 - Jakob's Ferry Stragglers
JULY 8 - Cover Song Special
JULY 15 - Psycho Prophecy
JULY 22 - Dylan E. Miller
JULY 29 - Native Alloys
AUG. 5 - Tukurpa
AUG. 19 - We Came From Space
AUG. 26 - Behind the Grey
SEPT. 9 - Whiskey Pie

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

In Local Music News...

There has been a setback regarding the rebuilding of Tubby's Nightclub in Duncannon, which burned down early last year. The venue's owners had been gradually proceeding toward rebuilding the venue in its former location, but they announced this past week that due to circumstances beyond their control, they will not be rebuilding the venue in Duncannon, and are looking into other locations to reopen the venue.

Former Chris Woodward & Shindiggin' drummer Zac Grace has found a new band home, as he has joined the roster of area country music performers Railtowne. Zac will take over drum duties from Eric Wertz, who will remain in the band and play guitar alongside the group's other guitarist, Kenny Murdick. The expanded Railtowne roster will make its debut on June 23 at the Saxton Sportsmen's Club.

The Chris Bell Band has a new drummer, as Scott Kinsey takes over behind the kit. Scott made his debut with the group on Memorial Day weekend during a show at The Arena in State College.
