Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 22 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we caught up with our guest, Huntingdon-based singer and songwriter Dylan E. Miller, in an interview recorded at the A.C. Darby Studio in downtown Huntingdon. We learned Dylan's musical story and discussed his music, and heard tracks from his debut EP, Carrion. Dylan also strapped on his guitar and played a new song live for us! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Bill Ferrell, The Clarks, Steve Treado and Zach Wade & the Good Grief. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1998 song by State College's Bluesuedegroove from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Chris Rattie & the New Rebels' Porch CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS BELL 100% BLUES - "Baptized By the Blues"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Issues"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "I'll Go"
BILL FERRELL - "Tomahawk"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Your Smile"
MATT OTIS & THE SOUND - "Home"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Three Crows"
THE CLARKS - "Madly in Love at the End of the World"
STEVE TREADO - "Hold Steady on That Line"

HOUR TWO:

YOUNG LUNGS - "Reset, Restart"
ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "Wistful"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Favorite Distraction"
CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "Heading into Darkness"
DYLAN E. MILLER - "I Cried"
BLUESUEDEGROOVE - "When We Were Young" (1998, Local Music Flashback)
DYLAN E. MILLER - "Wallflower" (performed live)
THE COMMONHEART - "Save Me"

Our initial plans for band guests via phone fell through for our next program, so instead we will revisit the mailboxes and see what new recordings have arrived in recent weeks. We will debut new tunes from some of those recordings, plus preview some of the bands and performers who will perform at the upcoming Flood City Music Festival in Johnstown. We will also dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and step "Across State Lines" to hear a song from an independent band or artist from outside the state!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

AUG. 5 - Tukurpa
AUG. 19 - We Came From Space
SEPT. 9 - Whiskey Pie
OCT. 28 - Halloween Special

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
