Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 30 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we welcomed our guest via phone, Gordon Tittsworth, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Pavement Entertainment recording group Images Of Eden! We learned the latest Images Of Eden happenings, and discussed and featured tracks from the group's new CD, Soulrise! Along the way, we debuted new songs from We Came From Space, Unicorn Filet and Pensive Fear, updated "Local Music News," dug a 2004 track from Dubois heavy rockers Sever from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Hate Grenade's The King Is Dead CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A popular Johnstown area live music venue is coming under fire for alleged noise problems. Slammin' Sams has been targeted with noise complaints by a neighbor. The matter will come up for discussion during an upcoming Johnstown City Council meeting. That meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, October 10, on the fourth floor of the Johnstown Police Department Building.

The musical entertainment slate is set for next weekend's third annual Zombietown USA event in downtown Altoona, October 5-6. The zombie festival will kick off on Friday night with the Dead at Five concert event at Altoona's Railroaders Museum, featuring Agent Smith and their Alice In Chains tribute side project, Agent In Chains. That concert begins at 6 p.m. Admission to that event is 5 per person, but zombies are admitted for free. The music and festivities then move across the railroad tracks to downtown Altoona's Heritage Plaza on Saturday with a full slate of entertainment and activities. The music kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Backyard Rockers, and continues with performances from Elaini Arthur, Ed n'Born, Downshift, One Adam 12, Post Traumatik and Hair Force One. A Halloween parade will also take place at 4 p.m., and other Zombietown events include a meet-and-greet with celebrities from the film "Dawn of the Dead," zombie art, a haunted house, street vendors, children's activities and more. Admission to Saturday's Zombietown events is free.

Former members of Altoona alternative rockers Rain Must Fall will debut the full band lineup of their new project on Friday night, October 5. The Kensinger-Bickel Band - featuring former Rain Must Fall members Michael Kensinger on lead vocals, Jarret Bickel on guitar and Hunter Karns on bass, will perform as part of a Halloween-themed art event at SLY Photography, located at 1408 11th Avenue third floor in downtown Altoona. The group will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. The rest of the group's roster included drummer Rob Bonsell and PennSoulVania keyboardist Qwan Clark. Admission to the event is free.
