Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 7 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we met and got to know our band guests, Hollidaysburg-based country-rockers The Chrome Hearts! We met the band members and learned their story, discussed their career and music, and heard tunes from their debut CD, Oh No! Along the way, we debuted new songs from The Evergreens, Shane Speal & the Snakes and Jack Pyers & the Sensational Double Clubs, dug a 1981 track by State College's Red Rose Cotillion from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Jeff Mamett's Carry Me Back CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

CHRIS BELL - "Whole Lotta Whiskey"
BACKLASH - "Livin' Free"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Oh No"
THE EVERGREENS - "Both Sides of the Bed"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Jealous of You"
SHANE SPEAL & THE SNAKES - "Hard Times and Cigarettes"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Money"
JACK PYERS & THE SENSATIONAL DOUBLE CLUBS - "Hold On"

HOUR TWO:

BILL TOMS - "I Won't Go to Memphis No More"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Keep on Rockin'"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Harper Valley PTA"
JEFF MAMETT - "Feels Like Love"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Drunkensville, USA"
RED ROSE COTILLION - "These Blues" (live) (1981, Local Music Flashback)
THE CHROME HEARTS - "We Got It All Goin' On"

On our next program, we will dig back into the mailboxes to check out new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks, meaning we will be debuting lots of new tunes! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from an out-of-state independent band or artist, and review 13 Saints' To the Floor CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

OCT. 21 - Charlie Barath
OCT. 28 - Halloween Special
NOV. 4 - Jack Pyers
NOV. 18 - Deadside
NOV. 25 - 20th Anniversary Special (rebroadcast)

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
