Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 14 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we returned to the mailboxes to discover what new local and regional recordings have arrived in recent weeks! We debuted lots of new music, including tunes from Chase & the Barons, Chris Sutton & Charlie Barath, 3 Broken Dolls, Deadside, 9 Stitch Method, The Snipped, Postseason, Suicide Puppets and Conflict Cycle! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2004 track by the Lehigh Valley's Spitshine from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Annapolis, Maryland's The Vibesmen, and reviewed 13 Saints' To the Floor CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

A benefit concert for local benefits will take place later this month at The Arena in State College. The U.S. Veterans Motorcycle Club will present their first annual "Vetoberfest" on Saturday, October 20 at The Arena. Donation at the door is $5, with all proceeds benefiting local veterans. Performing at this event will be the bands 100 Proof and The Roof. The show begins at 7 p.m.

In band personnel moves, area Irish folk-rock favorites Full Kilt have found their new drummer. Jake Yarnish takes over drum duties, replacing the retiring Pat Boland. Jake's first performance with Full Kilt was during the Fort Ligonier Days festival in Ligonier.

Meanwhile, western PA/eastern Ohio heavy rockers Doctor Smoke have parted ways with bass player Kathryn Flesher.
