Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 21 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we met up with our guest, Pittsburgh area bluesman and harmonica ace Charlie Barath, in a discussion recorded on location at the ever-popular Dean's Diner near Blairsville! We learned about Charlie and his career, explored his music and harmonica playing, and heard various recorded songs from him! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Jeff Fetterman, Stevee Wellons Band and The Chrome Hearts, updated "Local Music News," dug a 1995 track by the Gypsy Souls from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Steve Treado's Nothing CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

GABE STILLMAN - "Ain't Gonna Change"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Burns Like Hell"
CHRIS SUTTON & CHARLIE BARATH - "Parchman Farm"
JEFF FETTERMAN - "Devil Knockin' at My Door"
CHARLIE BARATH - "In Heaven Sittin' Down"
STEVEE WELLONS BAND - "Don't Make You My Boss"
JIMMY ADLER & CHARLIE BARATH - "When I Lay My Burden Down"
JIMMY ADLER - "Grease Alley"

HOUR TWO:

JUKEHOUSE BOMBERS - "Nothin' to Lose"
DAN STONEROOK - "Damn Right I Got the Blues Blues"
CHRIS SUTTON & CHARLIE BARATH - "Chariot Express"
STEVE TREADO - "Is It Over"
JIMMY ADLER & CHARLIE BARATH - "Bad Bad Whiskey"
GYPSY SOULS - "Jumpin' In Da Wata" (1995, Local Music Flashback)
JIMMY ADLER & CHARLIE BARATH - "Knock Me a Kiss"
THE CHROME HEARTS - "Not the Same Girl"

With Halloween on the horizon, our next program will be the ever-popular "Homegrown Rocker" Halloween Special! We will spotlight bands, artists and songs whose names, titles and themes all tie in with Halloween! Expect to hear tunes about ghosts, vampires, demons, spirits, zombies, witches, skeletons and other scary things that go bump in the night! Along the way, we will update dig a scary "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Afraid Of Human's self-titled CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Upcoming guests and specials include:

NOV. 4 - Jack Pyers
NOV. 18 - Deadside
NOV. 25 - 20th Anniversary Special (rebroadcast)

In Local Music News...

A popular area band from the early 1990s is reuniting for a special 25th anniversary show during Thanksgiving weekend next month. Heaven Tonite will get back together to play on Black Friday night, November 23, at 120 Pub & Grub in Clearfield. The lineup of lead singer/guitarist Scott Robleski, lead guitarist Matt Day, bassist Steve Leach, drummer James McGarvey and keyboardist Gary Bailey will play classic rock favorites they used to perform back in the day, including numbers from Kansas, Queen, Journey, Boston and more. The show will begin at 9 p.m.

Western PA/eastern Ohio heavy rockers Doctor Smoke have announced their new bass player. Jeff Young will take over the four-string position, replacing Kathryn Flesher.

The area music community was saddened this past week by the passing of Alan "Delbert" McConnell. An area musician, sound and light engineer, Alan died on October 15 following a two-year-battle with cancer. He was 44. Alan played bass in different bands and situations, and ran sound and lights for shows and events, including benefit shows such as Patched Together, Patton Park Cruise In and more. Alan is survived by his wife, Patricia, and three children. We at Qwik-Rock and the "Homegrown Rocker" share our condolences with Alan's family, friends and musical associates.
