Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 20 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We checked out a few more new local and regional recordings that arrived in the mailboxes during recent days. We debuted several new tunes, including songs from Bryan Fazio, Post Traumatik, Jiggley Jones, Bigfoot's Ugly Mansion, Centralia, Wrath Of Typhon and Stone Wicked Souls. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2002 number by State College's Axum from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a tune from New Haven, Connecticut's Mile Marker Zero!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

BRYAN FAZIO - "Like a Gorilla"
ALYSSA HANKEY - "Black Cadillac"

THE GRANATI BROTHERS - "You Can't Get Me Down"
JOE NEWTZ - "Save Me"
MISS MELANIE & THE VALLEY RATS - "I'll Be Damned"
WRATH OF TYPHON - "Fate"

OCEANS TO ASH - "Control Mechanism"

We will have band guests on our next program, as we meet up with Altoona's Fyre! We will find out the latest Fyre happenings, and explore the group's recently-released second CD, 2 Keys, plus feature tunes from the new disc! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Images Of Eden's Soulrise CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

The Bedford-based rock band Borrowed Time has announced that their "borrowed time" will be running out at the end of March, and the group's two members, Mike Clapper and Chad Patterson, will be moving on to other endeavors. Chad will be continuing on as a solo artist. The group's final show will take place on Saturday, March 23.

Meanwhile, popular Happy Valley "cheese" rockers Velveeta are undergoing a roster move. Founding member and bassist John Matthews is leaving the group as he completes his schooling and moves on to a new career arc. John's final shows with Velveeta took place this past weekend. The group has already found a replacement, as Adam Becker will join the group; his first shows with Velveeta will happen January 25 at The Saloon in State College and January 26 at the Matterhorn Lounge at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
