Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 27 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We welcomed band guests this week, catching up with the updated roster of Fyre for a conversation recorded at McGarvey's in Altoona! We introduced the new members (guitarist Logan Yablonski and bassist Corey Colledge) and discussed Fyre's latest happenings, including the group's new album 2 Keys, plus we featured tunes from the new album throughout the program. Along the way, we debuted a new tune from Dive, updated "Local Music News," dug out a 2001 number by Altoona's Raghouse from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Images Of Eden's Soulrise CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

JEFF FETTERMAN - "Somebody Get Me a Doctor"
GABE STILLMAN - "Ain't Gonna Change"
FYRE - "The Lurking Fear"
SILVER SCREEN - "Labelled Off"
FYRE - "Premonition"
DIVE - "Letters"
FYRE - "Into the Void"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Awakening"

HOUR TWO:

INSIDE OUT - "Demons Inside"
HATE GRENADE - "Revelation"
FYRE - "The Life and Times of a Demi-God"
IMAGES OF EDEN - "All Is Now Forgiven"
FYRE - "The One Who Sleeps"
RAGHOUSE - "Disembodied Symphony" (2001, Local Music Flashback)
FYRE - "Back to the Past"

For our next program, we know we will be up against stiff entertainment competition from the sporting world...So if you could care less who wins between the Rams and the Patriots, or tire of hearing the nonstop cackle of announcers, or just aren't enthused about who is performing at halftime, or just aren't feeling the Super Bowl commercials this year, turn down the TV sound and power up the volume on the "Homegrown Rocker" as we present this year's installment of the "Ladies of Local Music" Special! We will spotlight the area music scene women who write songs, sing, and play guitars, keys, fiddles, drums, strings and other instruments on local and regional stages! We'll check out some new tunes, update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and step "Across State Lines" to spotlight an independent band or artist from outside the state! Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" Ladies of Local Music Special on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

FEB. 17 - KRISTI JEAN & HER NE'ER DO WELLS
MAR. 3 - MILLENNIUM MUSIC CONFERENCE (MMC) RECAP
MAR. 10 - MMC GUEST (TBA)
MAR. 17 - ST. PADDY'S DAY SPECIAL

In Local Music News...

Recent "Homegrown Rocker" guest Gordon Tittsworth and his band Images Of Eden have announced that they will be embarking on a five-week, 21-date U.S. concert tour with legendary heavy metal performers Metal Church and Doro. Images Of Eden is touring in support of their latest CD, Soulride. The tour begins April 17 in Las Vegas, and will arrive in Pennsylvania during early May with a show at Reverb in Reading on May 8.

Bedford County-based heavy metal rockers Paradigm issue their second CD in February. The new CD is called Monolith, and the official release of the album will take place on February 19 at Pittsburgh's Hard Rock Cafe when Paradigm opens for national recording artists Flaw.

Western PA rockers Dive have announced plans to enter the recording studio again in March. They will head to Timber Studios in New Jersey to record a new EP, with plans to release that EP in early summer and issue a new video.

The Derek Woods Band has named Chris Belen as their new drummer, replacing Justin Landers.
