Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 31 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

As we did on last week's program, we again explored recent recordings that arrived in the program's mailboxes on this week's show! We debuted new tunes from Chris Bell, Dan Stonerook, Caleb J. Murphy, Diaphane, David Uosikkinen & In the Pocket, Justin Angelo, Pensive Fear, Dan Sheehan, John Vento, Black Cat Habitat and Oceans to Ash. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2002 song by Green Eggs from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to check out a tune from Maryland's Rivers & Rhodes. And we also presented two editions of "The Professor's CD Corner" - reviewing Idle Kyle's Twisted Attention EP during the first hour, and Black Water Greed's Circle Of Sin during the second hour.

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "I'll Survive"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Ahh Can You Feel It"
CHRIS BELL - "The Dad Song"
DAN STONEROOK - "Small Town Ten Again"
CALEB J. MURPHY - "Lunch Money"
LENINA CROWNE - "Alkatraz to the 8th Power"
DIAPHANE - "Portrait No. 2"
IDLE KYLE - "ALTS"
DAVID UOSIKKINEN & IN THE POCKET - "And We Danced" (live)
JUSTIN ANGELO - "Sinking"

HOUR TWO:

CHRIS RATTIE - "Country Boy"
THE SNIPPED - "All We Know"
PENSIVE FEAR - "The Pit"
BLACK WATER GREED - "21 Shells Say Goodbye"
DAN SHEEHAN - "Cross the Border"
GREEN EGGS - "My Band" (2002, Local Music Flashback)
RIVERS & RHODES - "This Storm" (Across State Lines)
JOHN VENTO - "Good Life Made"
BLACK CAT HABITAT - "Broke My Heart"
13 SAINTS - "New York Doll"
OCEANS TO ASH - "Victim of the Algorithm"
FYRE - "Doctor Doctor"

Band guests will join us on our next program, as we speak with Altoona-based punk rockers The Snipped! We'll meet the band members and learn their story, and get inside their brand of "Dadcore," and hear songs from their debut CD of the same title! We'll also dig a song by a past area band or artist from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Postseason's self-titled album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (April 7) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

In Local Music News...

The organizers of Altoona’s First Frontier Festival have announced the dates for this year’s second annual event. The Altoona First Frontier Festival has expanded into a two day event, and will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27. The Friday half of the festival will take place at Altoona’s Mishler Theatre, with a paid concert featuring a popular area band and a pioneering rock legend. Saturday’s half of the festival will begin at downtown Altoona’s Heritage Plaza with a free concert event featuring four area bands, and will wrap up Saturday evening with another paid concert at the Mishler featuring an established bluegrass band and an outlaw country headliner. All performers and other information will be officially announced on Sunday, April 14, with tickets going on sale at noon on Monday, April 15.

As reported previously, Bedford County-based rock band Borrowed Time recently played their final show after more than a decade together. Guitarist and singer Michael Clapper is relocating to the Philippines, while guitarist and singer Chad Patterson is continuing as a solo performer.

And State College favorites Lenina Crowne have announced that they are working on a third EP, to be issued in June. The group said they are going with a stripped-down approach and simpler recording for the new EP.
