Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 11 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We again returned to the mailboxes during this week's program to explore new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days! We debuted new tunes from Conner Gilbert, Robin & Bob, Mama Corn, Homicide Black and Black Water Greed! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2002 number by Paco's Virus from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Syracuse, New York 'heady' metal rockers One Step From Falling," and reviewed Wrath Of Typhon's Kingdom of Fear CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In Local Music News...

The musicians and schedule have been announced for the 7th annual Route 22 Rock & Blues Festival. This year’s event will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 23 and 24 at Lincoln Caverns Amphitheater near Huntingdon. Recent NBC Television “The Voice” contestant Jimmy Mowery will be one of the Saturday performers, along with Walkney, Zach Wade & the Good Grief, Black Cat Moan, PennSoulvania, The Blacksnakes, The Roof, Maul, Dylan Miller and Jae Smith. Friday’s roster includes Kevo Can’t Dance, Iron Wolf, END, Negan, Dragline and Black Sun. Tickets for the event will be available soon.

A new art and music festival will be happening that same weekend near Tyrone. The inaugural Mass N The Grass festival will take place from August 23 through 25 at Eagle Valley Paintball near Tyrone. The event will feature live music on Friday and Saturday, along with art and craft vendors, food vendors, children’s activities and more. Performers during this event will include Devin Saylor, Acid Rain, Jesse & the Ghost, West Beaver Arts Collective, The Roof, The Twisted Petals Project, Wilted, Sijel, John Peacefire, Oliver Squash, Sascha Damon Frost and more. Admission will be $10 for general admission and $20 for general admission plus camping, and will be paid at the gate.

And two northern Cambria County musicians have joined forces to form a new acoustic duo. Low Voltage will pair longtime area musician Joe Konior and Lee Miller. Low Voltage made their onstage debut last weekend; their next scheduled show is Friday, August 23 at the Hastings Moose in Hastings.
