Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 6 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We headed back to the mailboxes this week to explore new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days. That resulted in the debut of lots of new local and regional tunes, including songs from Homicide Black, Post Traumatik, Prairie Dogma, Delsym Mandela, Conner Gilbert, Yigga Digga, Mysterytrain and Defiant! Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2007 number from Williamsport's Sarah Fleck & the Palpitations from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Owego, New York bluegrassers Bug Tussle!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE SNIPPED - "Along These Streets"
SILVER SCREEN - "Codeine"
HOMICIDE BLACK - "End to Eternity"
HATE GRENADE - "Revelation"
POST TRAUMATIK - "Running Away"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "No One Gonna Love You"
PRAIRIE DOGMA - "Break My Chain"
MYCENEA WORLEY - "9 Lives"
DELSYM MANDELA - "Who's to Say"
CONNER GILBERT - "Still Gonna Find Our Way"

HOUR TWO:

WHITE WITCH - "Changes Coming"
NEGAN - "Where Do We Go From Here"
YIGGA DIGGA - "Better Way"
ROADKILL - "You Should Be Ashamed"
MYSTERYTRAIN - "Time to Share the Wine" (live 2/17/19 at Pajama Jam, Sinking Valley Fairgrounds)
SARAH FLECK & THE PALPITATIONS - "Copper Shoes" (2007, Local Music Flashback)
BUG TUSSLE - "Hippies in the Henhouse" (Across State Lines)
CHRIS RATTIE & THE NEW REBELS - "Heading into Darkness"
DEFIANT - "Feet First"
SHATTERED - "These Gates"

Another guest with a new album joins us on our next program! White Witch and Monster Track Supergroup frontman Jeff Pittinger will join us in the studio to discuss the White Witch's new self-titled CD, and we'll air songs from the album! We'll also discuss other happenings with Jeff and White Witch. We'll also update "Local Music News" and dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive! Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (October 13) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

An area band marked their 50th anniversary with a celebration event last weekend. The Williamsburg-based group Second Edition marked the occasion of 50 years in existence at the Williamsburg Community Center last Sunday, Sept. 29, with the core of founding member Herm Arnold and longtime guitarist Lonnie Aungst welcoming numerous past members to join the group onstage through the afternoon. The group formed as a country group called The Black Mountain Express, and played their first show in May, 1969. They soon changed their name to Second Edition, and after five years evolved into a variety rock’n’roll band. Among their accomplishments during their 50-year career were the recording of three 45 rpm records and one vinyl album, continuous live performances throughout the area, and opening for .38 Special during the 1992 Huntingdon County Fair.

Hate Grenade will again present their annual “Trick or Feed” Halloween season food drive benefit show next Saturday night, October 12, at McGarvey’s in Altoona. Along with Hate Grenade, the show will feature the bands Fyre, 2BB and Same Old Haunt. Donation will be $5 at the door, and anybody donating non-perishable food items will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Sheetz gift card. All food and cash proceeds will benefit the Altoona Food Bank.

A founding member of Johnstown-based rock’n’roll band Three Of Hearts recently passed away. Steve Budesky had sung and played guitar with Three Of Hearts during their first two years. From Greensburg, Steve had been involved in music since the 1960s, and had recorded and toured with a number of prominent musicians during his career. He had been a member of groups who had backed such names as Neil Diamond, Little Anthony & The Imperials, The Marcels, The Edsels, The Temptations, The Crystals, The Drifters, Freddy Fender, and others. He was also a luthier.
