Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 2 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Realizing that once again we were up against major competition from the sports world this night, we again followed "Homegrown Rocker" Super Bowl Sunday tradition and aired the 2020 installment of the "Ladies of Local Music Special!" While the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers for their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years, we celebrated many of the region's women who write and sing their own songs, play guitars, keys, basses, fiddles, brass instruments and more! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Callie Tomblin, Eternal Frequency and The Austens, updated "Local Music News," dug into the archive to pull out a 2007 number from Spirit Lost for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Jessica Illuzzi's Soul Searcher CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist (with spotlighted women in parentheses):

HOUR ONE:

We will return to the mailboxes this week to explore new recordings that have arrived in recent days, meaning we plan to debut a lot of new tunes on our next program! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside of PA! Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," this Sunday night (February 9) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!
