Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 8 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

This week, we recapped the 24th annual Millennium Music Conference (MMC), which took place in the Harrisburg area the previous weekend. We aired some audio recorded during the conference and recapped some of this year's activities, and played lots of music from some of the many bands and artists who attended and showcased in the Harrisburg area during MMC weekend! We also updated "Local Music News," remembered the late Arthur Goldstein (who passed on Feb. 27) with a 1982 song from his band Archie Blue for a "Local Music Flashback," and - since many of the participating MMC bands and artists were from outside of PA - stepped "Across State Lines" numerous times to check out music from some of those performers - including an artist (Possimiste) hailing from Iceland!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE DEREK WOODS BAND - "Serve Somebody"
SIX BAR BREAK - "Soldier's Call"
OBSERVE THE 93RD - "Cartoons"
EXTERNAL FREQUENCY - "Fire"
ILYAIMY - "Friday"
ARCHIE BLUE - New Day Comin'" (1982, Local Music Flashback)
POSSIMISTE - "Unseeable"
RANDOM HUBIAK - "Slipping Through My Hands"
BILL HARTMANN - "Here Again"
JELLI - "Titles Are Hard"
KEVIN ROY CORRELL - "Fast Jack"
ANKER - "Cold Day in Hell"

HOUR TWO:

SILVER SCREEN - "Cheap Nachos"
BLIND CHOICE - "Balance on the Floor"
STELLA RUZE - "Open"
KALI MA AND THE GARLAND OF ARMS - "Paranormal"
THIS IS HUXLEY - "Regression"
DEFIANT - "Wendy"
JACKKNIFE STILETTO - "Drama King"
THE UNFORTUNATEZ - "Feng Shui Mein Al Grotten"
THE FOXFIRES - "Don't Give Up"
SINCERELY, IRIS - "Traveling Man"
JASON DAMICO - "Hole in My Soul"
KENDRA & THE BUNNIES - "Size You Up"

With St. Patrick's Day on the horizon, our next program will be the annual St. Patrick's Day Special! Hear the area music scene get its Irish up, as we hear from area bands and artists with a wee bit of the Irish in their style and sound! Along the way we will debut some new area Irish sounds, and update "Local Music News!" Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," this Sunday night (March 15) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!

The State College music scene mourns the passing of a longtime musician, member and friend. Arthur Goldstein passed away on February 27 at age 75. Arthur was a popular musician and educator. As an educator, he taught jazz and classical performance art and history, and offered personal piano instruction through the Music Academy. As a musician, he performed with a number of bands and projects dating back to the 1960s; including jazz projects such as Silent Way, the Arthur Goldstein Trio and Arthur Goldstein Quartet, the rock bands Marley and Round 2, and his popular R&B-based group and alter ego, Archie Blue, which released two albums in 1981 and 2016. According to his obituary, a celebration of Arthur’s life will be announced sometime in early spring.
