Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 16 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 FM) in Altoona and Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via both stations' websites.

Guests returned to our program this week, as we welcomed Johnstown bluesmen The Stone Bridge Blues Band! We met the band members and learned their story, and the group brought instruments and played a number of songs live for us! Along the way, we debuted new tunes from Steve Treado, Little Buddy and Above the Radar. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1993 tune by Neo Pseudo from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed The Hook's Moonshine & Honey CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

DONNY BURNS & THE 3RD DEGREE - "Summer Rain"
FELIX & THE HURRICANES - "Issues"
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "Blow Wind Blow" (performed live)
DIRTY MOJO BLUES BAND - "Too Much Alcohol"
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "Messin' with the Kid" (performed live)
JOHN "JT" THOMPSON - "Last Night"
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "Ross' Boogie" (performed live)
NEO PSEUDO - "Sleep in September" (1993, Local Music Flashback)

HOUR TWO:

BUSHMASTER BLUES feat. GARY BROWN - "The Blues"
JIMMY ADLER - "Ease Me Down Slow"
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "If You Love Me Like You Say" (performed live)
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "Little Red Rooster" (performed live)
STONE BRIDGE BLUES BAND - "The Thrill Is Gone" (performed live)
THE HOOK - "Take Control"
STEVE TREADO - "Bluesy Music"
LITTLE BUDDY - "Her Name Is the Blues"
ABOVE THE RADAR - "Uncle John"

On our next program, we get back to checking out new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days, and will debut plenty of new songs! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and review Braden McDannell's East & West CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (August 23) on Q94 Classic Rock (94.3 on your FM dial, or online at www.q94classicrock.com) and 105.9 Qwik Rock (105.9 on your FM dial, or online at www.1059qwikrock.com)!

In Local Music News...

More area festival events have been cancelled for this year due to COVID-19 and restrictions imposed on public events due to the pandemic.

The Live United Live concert event scheduled for August 29 at Spyglass Ridge Winery near Sunbury has now been postponed until 2021. That event was to feature performances from Jack Russell’s Great White, Firehouse, Kip Winger, Eric Martin, George Lynch, Warrant, Dokken and others, with proceeds benefiting the United Way.

An Altoona native now living in Pittsburgh, Don Hughes is releasing a brand new album later this month. The album, A Hero’s Journey, will feature 13 tracks. Nine of the tracks are compositions that will tell a hero story instrumentally, while the remaining tracks are extra tracks that Don started previously and recently completed. The album will be officially released on August 25.
