Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the February 7 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

Again knowing this week's program was up against a huge sporting event, we followed Super Bowl Sunday tradition and countered with our annual full-show salute to the "Ladies of Local Music!" We recognized many of the women in the Keystone State who write, create and sing their own songs, as well as play guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, fiddles, other strings and more! We also updated "Local Music News," and recognized Baltimore-based singer and songwriter Kim Clark White with a double-shot, digging out a 1993 number from her past band Archer for a "Local Music Flashback," before stepping "Across State Lines" to hear a song from her current band, The Kim White Band! And we reviewed Maleena's Bruises to Prove It album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Thanks to everybody who chose the "Homegrown Rocker" this night, or at least turned down the sound on the television and cranked up this week's special!

Here is this week's playlist (with spotlighted women in parentheses):

We present another special for our next show, as we pay tribute and dedicate the program to Whitey Noll. The founder and original publisher of Pennsylvania Musician Magazine, Whitey passed away on January 29 at age 79 following a brief battle with lung cancer. A musician himself, Whitey endeared himself to the state's music scene when he introduced Pennsylvania Musician in 1982, and the magazine became a reliable and trusted resource that gave the state's music industry a spotlight and a voice. We'll share Whitey's story (including how he founded the magazine), hear excerpts from Whitey's March 2002 guest appearance on the program (then called the "Backyard Rocker"), hear musicians from the state's music community share their thoughts and remembrances about Whitey, and hear Whitey's music - including numerous tunes from his 2001 CD with Joe Agoglia, Between the Curtains and the Clouds. Hear this special edition of the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (February 14) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

In Local Music News...

Lancaster psychedelic modern rockers Medusa’s Disco have announced that their guitarist and singer, Wynton Huddle, is parting ways with the group to pursue a solo career, and will be relocating to Nashville. Wynton last fall released the first album from his solo project Wynton Existing, called Wicked Fabrications.

After auditioning several guitar-playing candidates, Pittsburgh’s Chip & the Charge Ups have decided that they are going to proceed as a trio. Their first show as a three-piece will take place on February 20 at the Sub Alpine Society in Turtle Creek.

And Ted McCloskey has released his third album of songs inspired by the COVID pandemic and the tumultuous past year. The new album, The Lost Season Sessions Vol. 3 " Waiting for the Cavalry, was issued this past Friday via Ted’s Bandcamp page. According to Ted, this album is a departure from the previous two Lost Season Sessions albums, and takes on a moodier sound and atmosphere.
