Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the March 14 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We had a visitor on this week's program - thanks to area musician, singer and guitarist Bill Ferrell for stopping by and sharing his music and story with us! We talked about Bill's musical career, his recent explorations into fingerstyle guitar playing, and his creative process. We also heard tracks from Bill's most recent CD, Various Notes at Various Intervals, and he brought his classical acoustic guitar along and played a number live for us! Along the way, we debuted new songs from The Jaded Lips, Sterling Koch, Mycenea Worley and $illoet. We also updated "Local Music News," dug into Bill's musical past to feature a 2006 song he wrote and recorded while with the area band Kyx for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Van Wagner's Family Guitar album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 031421.)

As many celebrate Irish heritage, wearing green attire and indulging in copious amounts of corned beef and cabbage, Lucky Charms cereal, Guinness, Jameson and other Irish libations during the week, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day in our own unique way on our next program with the annual St. Paddy's Special! We spotlight local and regional bands and artists who like to get their Irish up and perform music with an Irish or Celtic flavor! Hear songs from the likes of Full Kilt, Tree, Lucky Lad Green, Jack Servello, The Irish Pretenders, Kilmaine Saints, Bastard Bearded Irishmen and more! A great soundtrack for finishing up your leftover corned beef and cabbage, devouring a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal or slicing and smelling the sweetness of Irish Spring soap - hear the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday night (March 21) on Q94 Classic Rock - 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com!

Some new band formations to report…Jaren Love, the former frontman and guitarist of Altoona-turned-Pittsburgh-based indie rockers The Lampshades, is launching his new band project. The new band, called Dream Home, finds Jaren playing guitar but also adding piano, an instrument he started learning to play six years ago. Jaren sings, accompanied by Sam Winward and Joe Pratski. Dream Home has issued a video for their song “Carpeted,” which can be viewed on YouTube; and they will issue their debut album on Mint 400 Records this coming Friday, March 19.

And Danville-based singer and songwriter Van Wagner has announced the formation of a new band. Van Wagner and Buffalo Valley Railroad will feature Van on vocals, guitar and mandolin. Also in the group are Haley Berge on piano and vocals, Steve Belcher on bass and drums, and Ethan Weader on guitar and drums. According to Van, the group will perform both acoustic and electric, and do an Americana mix of original songs, folk tunes and other gems thrown in. They will be announcing summer performance dates soon.

The organizers of the SOSPGH Concert Series have announced their themes and line-ups for Season 2 of the online concert series, which happens on four consecutive Thursdays in April.
