Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the April 11 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We kept our attention to the mailboxes again this week to explore new local and regional recordings that have arrived recently. Again, we debuted lots of new music; introducing new songs by Ted McCloskey, Joey Dalto, Hedgerow Red, Alyssa Hankey, The Austens, Lone Crow Rebellion, Patrick Motto, Mediocre Gatsby, Dream Home, Wax Mekanix, Images Of Eden and Seraph in Travail. In addition, we updated "Local Music News," pulled a 1997 tune by Altoona's Endora from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from southern New Jersey's The American Standard, and reviewed Fighting Adam's Crazy album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 041121.)

Visit Johnstown and St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church have announced that the 2021 PolkaFest at St. Mary’s in Cambria City will not be held this year due to ongoing concerns and challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival was slated to happen in early June. According to the organizers, PolkaFest will return in 2022.

The first of a two-album compilation series spotlighting music about the Susquehanna River has been released. The Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association has issued Songs of the Susquehanna Volume I, featuring 20 songs about the Susquehanna River, its history, legends and traditions. The songs were contributed by various regional songwriters and performers; among them Van Wagner, Hannah Bingman, Bill Dann and William Ryan. The songs were selected from 46 original river-inspired songs submitted. The remaining song submissions will be considered for a second album, slated to be released next year. The first album can be obtained for $15, and can be purchased through the website www.middlesusquehannariverkeeper.org.
