Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the May 9 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We went back to the mailboxes this week to check out new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days. Again, that meant that we had lots of new music to debut! We aired new songs from Ted McCloskey, The Worry Knot, Antonio Andrade, Charlie Barath, Katelyn Rose, Dream Home, Jerkin the Flat 9, Royal Honey and Seethe. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2000 number from Tugger from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Brooklyn, New York-based rock group Ghostbound, and reviewed Images Of Eden's Angel Born album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 050921.)

Here is this week's playlist:

On our next program, we welcome the return of our guest via phone, Pittsburgh area harmonica, blues and folk artist Charlie Barath! We'll also update "Local Music News," dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and review Ted McCloskey's The Lost Season Sessions Vol. 3 - Waiting for the Cavalry album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" In Local Music News...

The People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts has again cancelled their event for this year. According to a message on the festival's website, the cancellation was made because the venue where it is held, the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg, must follow COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, who owns the museum and grounds, and they are not permitted to host special events until the fall season. The People's Choice Festival usually takes place in July. According to the festival's website, the event will return next year.

Cresson Lake Playhouse and PennCrest Bank have announced an upcoming music event. The PennCrest Bank Music Fest will take place on Saturday, June 19 at Cresson Lake Playhouse behind the barn theater. The event will start at 4 p.m., and will feature performances from Bruce Schettig, duos Walt & Jackie and Two Far Gone, and Clay Bowser. Advance tickets for the event will be $13, or can be obtained at the gate for $15.

Some sad news to report from the Pittsburgh music scene, as glam and punk rock musician Bobby Lamonde passed away on Thursday (May 6) at age 54 from complications stemming from COVID-19. Bobby had been a guitarist and personality on the Pittsburgh music scene since the 1980s, and was a member of such bands as Trash Vegas and the Science Fiction Idols.

And the regional music scene was saddened this week by the passing of Robert “Chip” Jabs on Monday (May 3) at age 40. From Lewistown, Chip was a songwriter, guitarist and frontman for several band projects, including Even As We Speak and more recently, Calmly Poisoned. Chip had been a guest on the “Homegrown Rocker” three times, the most recent with Calmly Poisoned in 2017.
