Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the August 29 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

This week, we returned to the mailboxes to explore more new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days! We debuted lots of new tunes from area bands and artists, including numbers from Inside Out, Moonshine Jasmine, Brother Jack, Chris Woodward & Shindiggin', Ted McCloskey, Endbringer and Fresh Air Man! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 1990 number by Altoona metalheads Fatal Maim from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a number from North Carolina's Seeking Sirens, and reviewed Roadkill's The First 30 Years 1989-2019: Worst Misses CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 082921.)

In Local Music News…

The annual Cambria City Ethnic Festival makes its return next weekend in the Cambria City section of Johnstown. The event happens Friday through Sunday, with ethnic food, various vendors, children's activities, church tours, and live music taking place at various stage locations along and near Chestnut Street. Many performers and performance schedules will be announced leading up to next weekend; the Venue of Merging Arts has announced the schedule for the Third Avenue Arts Stage, which will feature the Jeffreys Brothers Band and Black Cat Moan on Friday; the Autism Special Music Band, Midnight Graffiti, That Oldies Band and Gris-Gris on Saturday; and Mike Mitchell Bluegrass on Sunday. Also announced is the reunion of popular Johnstown party rockers Yum on both Friday and Saturday night at the St. Mary's Catholic Church Pavilion.

The Jakobs Ferry Stragglers have announced a changing of the guard with their upright bass player position. Their bassist of the past few years, Niko Kreider, is leaving the group to devote more attention to his woodworking business in West Virginia. Replacing him will be Trish Imbrogno, who is well respected in the western PA bluegrass scene.
