Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the November 14 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!

We spotlighted new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent weeks on this week's program. We debuted new tunes from Mark DeRose and the Dreadnoughts, Alexia Christian, Wax Mekanix, Denny & Ken, Black Ridge, Ryan Clark, 27 Club and Paradigm. We also updated "Local Music News," and with one of the stories being the passing of longtime musician Bob "Zorbo" Slovikosky, we dug into the archive for two "Local Music Flashback" songs in remembrance of "Zorbo" - a 1983 number by his group Cut The Mustard during the first hour, and a 2006 number by his group Issues during the second hour. In addition, we stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a number from former Altoona area musician David J. Shaffer (now living in Maine), and reviewed the Derek Woods Band's Picture Yourself album in "The Professor's CD Corner!" (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 111421.)

In Local Music News...

A new recording studio and independent record label launched in the State College area recently. Happy Valley Song Lab Studios and its partner HVSL Records were started by Angel Mariotti and My Hero Zero frontman Jason O. The studio will record a variety of musical styles and projects, and also hosts networking events to promote community in the State College music scene.

Area rock band Vision to None will be stepping away from area stages after the end of the year. The group has announced that their final show will take place on New Years Eve at 120 Pub & Grub in Clearfield. Bassist and singer Eric McCrum performed his final show with the group back in August.

And the area music scene mourned the passing of Robert “Zorbo” Slovikosky. who passed away on November 5 at age 65. Robert was known for playing bass for popular area rock band Cut The Mustard in the 1980s, and also played bass for the group Issues in the early 2000s.
