Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the January 22 edition of "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!

We returned to the mailboxes to explore more new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent weeks! We debuted new songs from Matt Otis & the Sound, Hunter Root, Curt Biesecker, Bree Gearhart, Ctp. Bisquick, The Heartstrings, The Heathen Parade, Diaphane, Yigga Digga, Six Bar Break and Gun Metal Gray! We also spotlighted a special moment as Pure Cane Sugar's Kate Twoey "lived the dream" by singing onstage with Brandi Carlile during "Brandi-oke" at the recent Girls Just Wanna Weekend 4 vacation event in Mexico! In addition, we updated "Local Music News," dug a 2006 number by Juiced from the archive for a "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a song from New York City's Rebelmatic! (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94's website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on "The Professor's Classroom," and then scroll down to "Homegrown Rocker Podcast" and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 012223.)

In Local Music News...

Altoona's Crazed Visions has expanded into a full band project and is now working on an album. Originally the solo project alter ego of Matthew Cain, Crazed Visions has expanded into a five-piece group with Matt being joined by Guy Mauro (of Lucid Yooth), Justin Cain (John Peacefire), Ian Wissinger (formerly of The Returners) and Sascha Frost (Memory Collector). The group's musical style is described as melancholy. The album, being produced by Sascha Frost, is expected to be released on March 21.

A member of State College's Pure Cane Sugar got to live her dream recently by getting to sing a duet with one of her idols. Kate Twoey experienced the moment while attending the “Girls Just Wanna Weekend 4” concert vacation event earlier this month in Riviera Maya, Mexico. This year's event was hosted by Grammy award winner Brandi Carlile. After submitting a video audition to an Instagram contest, Kate won the opportunity to sing with Brandi during the event's “Brandi-oke” feature. Kate stepped onstage to join Brandi on a rendition of “A Beautiful Noise,” Brandi's popular 2020 duet with Alicia Keys. Smiles and cheers were plentiful for both women, and Brandi praised Kate for her singing talents afterward. Numerous cameras captured the magic, and Kate pieced together and uploaded a video of the performance on YouTube.

That's a look at “Local Music News.” Bands and artists with news items to report on the program may email their information to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
